This is a very dangerous intersection -- cars start backing up quickly the wrong way up a one-way street to avoid traffic. Children are everywhere and we saw a man get hit by a car here. It's only a matter of time until a child gets hurt.

This whole area is a terrible unsafe mess and it needs to be addressed ASAP.

I live on E 5th Street between Vanderbilt and Greenwood. I have two small children and we play at Greenwood Playground almost daily. The intersection at Greenwood and E 5 street and the Ft. Hamilton exit of the Prospect Exp is very dangerous. We constantly see cars speeding down our street, they don’t stop at the stop signs and proceed straight through the crosswalk without looking for pedestrians. We need to improve upon the safety of the intersections mentioned in this petition before our community has to deal with a tragedy due to the reckless driving on our street.

The Greenwood Playground side of E 5th street is marked for no parking during evening rush hour (4-7 PM). This actually creates a safety hazard near the playground instead of helping the flow of traffic. Very often a car will pull into that left side of the street and speed past the line of cars waiting to get through the traffic light. They generally speed while doing this to try to make the light. This is extremely unsafe for the neighborhood as there are children and families walking on the sidewalk with no barrier for protection. I believe it would be safer for the neighborhood to allow parking on the left side of the street even during rush hour.
Please install a speeding camera on E 5th street or perhaps a second speed bump closer to the traffic light. These would help stop cars from speeding to catch the light after going over the existing speed bump that is in the middle of the block. Thank you!
