Apple iTunes and Sony music / Columbia records recently released an otherwise unavailable live track by Bob Dylan for download at minimal cost. In the modern age of digital downloads, many artists are offering live performances via their websites, and even full concert downloads. Bob Dylan and Columbia have declined to undertake a permanent method to distribute live recordings, though have at times shown willingness to recognise Bob Dylan\'s live performance art and make it available to fans via sites such as bobdylan.com and The Bootleg Series releases. However, in recent years, many fans on message boards have expressed desire to see more live performances made available. Fans believe that iTunes is the way forward for making these live recordings accessable to fans. It is a mutually agreeable method - minimal expenditure on the record company\'s part - minimal cost to the fan. It is also true that these would be \'fan orientated\' - something which would have little commercial viability as a large-scale release. We are using this petition to urge Sony music and Bob Dylan to consider using iTunes as a method to regularly sell professionally-recorded live tracks from concert performances, to allow fans to purchase and build an archive of high-standard and officially approved legal downloads of one of the world\'s greatest performing artists. We hope this petition will show how much interest there is from fans of Bob Dylan to see such a venture undertaken and that it will be considered by Sony music and Bob Dylan.
