As we enter the third week of strike action, with no resolution in sight, the undersigned would like to formally request back the money we have spent on each day of learning missed due to the strike. With 115 days of teaching this academic year, this amounts to £78.26 per day for each student paying £9,000 a year fees. In no other service industry would it be acceptable to demand payment up front, then refuse to refund this when a service is not provided. Given the abolition of student loans for fees, students are now paying customers and should be treated as such. This is not a declaration of support for or criticism of the strike, but an acknowledgement of its existence and unacceptable financial impact on us.
