Just another example of the ineptitude that leads the SU to be ranked amongst the worst in the UK. A fancy new logo won't boost rankings unless they start working for the students.

Student radio stations across the country get thousands of pounds a year and Purple gets no funding at all? This in addition to the opening hours is utterly outrageous for a university supposedly one of the best in the country!

Not exactly surprised by this, the DSU is run terribly and certainly doesn't enable students. Purple Radio should not be messed around like this.

I'm one of the Dj's on Sunday night, we are completely shocked at the news of the closure, its the lack of communication which really is upsetting. The DSU insists its student run but there are decisions made with little student feedback.

It's worth noting that the DSU also decided not to give ANY money to Purple Radio, a student union not encouraging their student radio is beoyond a joke. Especially when purple radio actively got involved with initiatives such as the Re-freshers fair and the housing rush campaign

What kind of Students Union, firstly closes at 6pm (on any night!?) and secondly, actively chooses to discourage and conflict with student societies. Particularly one which is so popular and hugely raises the profile of Durham University in the media.

The final few paragraphs are the most relevant here - the Union has, especially over the past year, failed to 'enable students', and not just for Purple Radio. Whilst the closing time is an important point, it is just the tip of a much larger iceberg that needs to be dealt with as soon as possible.
