Its not just Purple Radio that are missing out, other Sunday Night societies have had to change to a more inconvenient time and place, Bridge Club to name but one. Surely Durham Students' Union should be working for the students. I have been frustrated on several occasion by the way this organisation is run.

Sad to hear DSU's uncompromising attitude towards student initiative hasn't changed - this is one of the most important and creative societies at Durham uni. Good luck
DUSS were lucky that they still had free teachers available when the classes were forced to move to another day due to the closures. If they hadn't been available the society would have had to fold or pay out lots of money for alternative teachers.

Both the Saturday & Sunday closures have affected many societies, including the one I run, which made it incredibly difficult for us last term.

We had the same issue with out students' union last year. Just make them aware that they are reducing engagement of the equipment they've invested in. We found that our members performed most productively between the hours of 8pm and midnight and some of the best shows have been produced here. I wish you the absolute best with this petition. The students come first.

Closing early not only closes a vital resource in the SU for students, it mutes the voice of students as well. Let's get Purple the radio hours is so deserves and needs back!

This caused the shut down of Vane Tempest Sessions - the best student music night in Durham, and could threaten purple radio. This once again limits Durham to being a university for Academia & sport, and thwarts any attempts to develop the creative/alt-music/media scene.

Really sad to hear how this has affected Purple Radio. It is not only what has been done but the way it has happened – without clear explanation or appreciation of its impact on students. These changes have affected Swing society (DUSS) too. We provide really good value classes because we are so lucky to have wonderful free teachers. But the Closures on Sunday evenings have reduced our teaching pool. It has also affected our membership. And some members who regularly attended and who were very much involved in the society can no longer come to our weekly classes. It is such a shame that the DSU closed its doors when there were a lot of students using the facility on Sunday evenings.
