The proposal fails to ofer a viable solution to the perceived problem - it merely moves the problem elsewhere, at great environmental and financial cost.

I am against this scheme cutting through our greenbelt, and believe it will cause great distress to our environment and to the people living in the area.

This is an ill conceived and ineffective proposal, which would be a waste of Public Money. The road would cause irreparable damage to The Green Belt, wildlife and Historic Sites. It would increase pollution and adversely affect residents. It is not an effective measure to address any traffic congestion which is limited to peak times. It would result in an increase in traffic on the local roads to the west and south of Durham City. It would be ineffective in addressing the congestion on the A167, only transferring "bottlenecks " to other locations on this route. Durham CC need to realistically assess sustainable and public transport options which would provide a more practical and cost effective solution to address the perceived traffic problems, whilst reducing the impact on the environment.

This will ruin a beautiful area and the wildlife within it. Why can’t free buses be put on to ease the congestion instead of this?

No to this road scheme. It is ill thought out. No to encroachment on the green belt. School traffic is a fact of life living near the 167. Improve the bus services and leave the countryside alone.
