Durhams countyside is getting more scarce and it is very important to protect these areas, it is very precious and more importantly our wildlife needs help more than ever, these road will increase pollution , litter and deaths of local wildlife . Please don't build these roads :(

There is no need to have this road at all! No other solutions have been researched to reduce what the Council call "traffic flow" problems. Local schools have not undertaken any healthier travel routes. Congestion happens for a minimal time it has been cited that schools contribute to only 5% of the traffic issue. This is absolute nonsense as we locals have undertaken work at "peak" travel times and have recorded where the possible traffic flow issues occur. At school times! The CDP is a flawed plan, the previous plan response was that the majority of people wanted a wider dispersal of housing not a concentration of non affordable houses in Durham , DCCs new plan has totally disregarded the majority consensus and produced this latest plan ignoring preferred options!

DCC's evidence, including the"exceptional circumstances" is flawed and lacking in robustness. Specifically, data regarding city journey times was collected in 2015/16 ie pre the new SCOOT traffic control systems on the A690. In addition DCC state that air pollution is a problem, however fail to provide the 2018 Air quality report in the County Plan evidence library. This report shows that since the declaration of the AQMA in 2011 annual NOx levels have fallen significantly to below the maximum accepted levels in many locations.

It is just "induced demand" - the more you build, the more it will be used because it's easy - enough roads! Also, it hasn't gone un-noticed how DCC is pushing out into the green belt...

This exact proposal was defeated in 2014 and now there are even more reasons why it should not be built. Have they not heard of climate change and environmental destruction at Durham County Council?

It was a stupid idea in the 1970s when it didn't happen, it was a stupid idea in 2015 when it was quite rightly slated by the Planning Inspectorate, and it's even stupider now, because the Council is skinter, the justification is weaker, and the planet is warmer.

This road will be a disaster for all the population as it is the only last part of real beautiful wildlife in Durham. There is no attempt being seen to improve the expensive and disorganised bus and train service, that I would use far more if it wasn't as costly.

First proposed in 1979. Various attempts to force this through over the years. Last attempt in 2015 was even turned down by parliament. DCC need to think in a different way. They are elected public servants......they can be unelected!

Road Traffic congestion in Durham City Centre is below the National Average. Parts of Durham City Centre are below the National average for pollution levels. DCC business promotion video states that there are no traffic congestion problems in Durham City Centre in comparison to other cities! Both Relief Roads do not warrant the destruction of gorgeous woodland & disturbing wild life. DCC are taking the only twice daily slight traffic delays & will put the strain on the villages & suburban areas around Durham? We do not need either Relief Roads DCC.

The "relief" road proposal was unambiguously rejected by the planning inspectorate three years ago. Nothing has changed, and this proposal is equally without merit.

According to DCC Air Quality Action Plan building this road will raise air pollution within Durham City.
Including Gilesgate 103% and in Claypath 102%. The policy is to remove traffic from the city centre. However DCC is determined to build the new County Hall in The Sands. This would increase traffic into the city and against their own strategy. Therefore is no justification to build this road.

A pointless road that will destroy the beautiful green belt which many residents enjoy on a regular basis. Once again DCC showing it is completely out of touch with locals.

Tearing up the beautiful countryside for self gain here. The decision makers in the council have no idea what damage this will do. Places like browney valley are a sanctuary for wildlife and many people. This proposed road would ruin lives and the environment. How can computed modelling and text book ideas take presidence over real lives and wildlife environments. The council should improve traffic management systems and not waste money on fruitless damaging projects. Look at the mess they're making of the city centre. I fear a level of corruption going on here. How can we stop this? ?

Places like browney valley are a sanctuary for wildlife and many people. This proposed road would ruin lives and the environment. How can computed modelling and text book ideas take presidence over real lives and wildlife environments. The council should improve traffic management systems and not waste money on fruitless damaging projects. Look at the mess they're making of the city centre. I fear a level of corruption going on here. How can we stop this? ?

As a horse rider and cyclist who users the bridleways and railwalks, I don't think there has been any consideration once again. What has been put into place for us. It cuts four bridleways, footpaths and the railway walk. The BW from Arbor going west to Stotgate farm and then we come back, if good provision is not given - no one will ride this. There are two lovely loops to ride. These will disappear. The roads are far to busy, so we won't have anywhere to horse ride. Plus we don't want this road cutting up a beautiful rural countryside. Please don't do this.
