Overdue and much needed. The current layout is a tragedy waiting to happen.

This is so overdue and such a fabulous idea that would help so many people who live and work in the neighborhood. Bravo to Delson Sherman for their work on this!

Even a second staircase for the existing entrance would be an improvement. DUMBO is busier and busier each week... so much construction and now lots of employment, so it's 2-way traffic in the peaks. Not to mention the safety risks.

Yeah, It scares the bejesus out of me every time I get off at this station. If something went wrong like a fire or terrorist attack we are so screwed! One means of egress is a nightmare waiting to happen. And with all the new residential, office, commercial and retail being built including a million sqft tower next door to the train- an upgrade is desperately needed. - Kris

So ready for this entrance; could never understand how a train station had only 1 entrance/exit. Elevator/escalator would be a definite improvement.

I have been a homeowner in DUMBO for over 12 years . This would be an amazing improvement , for our safety and the greater overcrowding of the station especially with the influx of new residents and tech workers in the neighborhood .

I commend you for taking the initiative! A second entrance that takes into consideration the needs of all who pass through Dumbo is much needed, now not later.

You are right. What we have now is truly awful.. It wasn't meant to handle a growing residential neighborhood.

As an employee of Brooklyn Bridge Park, I've heard many visitors complain how difficult it is for them to access the park from nearby train stations, as neither the High St. or York St. stations have elevators. It would be a great public service to expand the accessibility of DUMBO by revamping the York St. station and adding a much-needed second entrance/exit with an elevator. The neighborhood should be able to be enjoyed by all people.

A second entrance/exit is critical for the dangerously overcrowded F train stop at York St. It is only a Matter of time before someone is inadvertently pushed onto the tracks due to the narrow platform and the hordes of people who are now living and/or working in DUMBO!!!!

with number of new buildings going up and huge increase in resident, this already dangerously overcrowded station is going to become a nightmare and safely issue. as it is, during rush hour the crowds are so big that commuters cannot move, in the case of an emergency this would be a serious safety concern as there is only one way out, and that is already over crowded.

With all the planned new developments especially with the sale of the jehovahs parking lot right across the street from York street station that will bring a high influx of residents/workers, this train station issue must be addressed as it doesn't support the current or future infrastructure at all. If you are a handicap or elderly person trying to use that station I feel for you.

So urgently needed

Please! This station is extremely dangerous. If anything were ever to happen on the stairway or exit-end of the platform, a lot of people would be in trouble. Also, it's very confusing for tourists trying to visit Brooklyn Bridge park and DUMBO--I direct people towards the exit at least 3x per week.

With the increase of people to the area this would be amazing

Work on the A next? Two lines into this growing section of the borough & BOTH are disasters from the previous century. We need to assert more pressure than a petition but I applaude this effort thank you

I love this idea. Am super proud of Delson or Sherman Architects for coming up with this concept and design.
