This is a petition to lower the price of meal plans as well as giving the option of whether to have funds added to Flex Points or Ultima Funds. PLEASE SIGN USING DREXEL EMAIL ACCOUNT! Both the five and nine meal plans cost more than simply buying meals ala carte. Students pay $32.50 more for the 5 meal plan than they would if they put the $720 that it costs on their Ultima Funds and paid for five dinners per week for the ten weeks that the plan covers. Dinner costs $8.75 per meal ala carte, lunch/brunch costs $7.50 per meal, and breakfast is $5.50 per meal. Buying breakfast and lunch at the same pace costs you $95 more for lunch and $195 more for breakfast. These estimates are all assuming you don\'t waste any meals; they do not roll over week to week. Also, bear in mind that most students eat at the cafeteria during lunch/brunch hours. With the 9 meal plan, you have to make it to 84 out of ninety meals eating only dinners just to break even. Don\'t forget, the other portion of the cost of the meal plan is allocated to flex points which can only be used in three other locations than the cafeteria while Ultima Funds can be used at any Drexel shop and in outside stores.
