Psychiatry is probably the biggest hoaxes pulled on the American people in the history of this country. There is only one agenda item in modern American psychiatry: the relentless expansion of psychiatric turf and drug sales.

Presently living in the bowels of the very "BEAST SYSTEM" called; Psychiatry

High time for Psychologists to be heard and other mental health stakeholders to participate in improving DSM-5 version 2!

We need to look at mental health in a holistic manner

I am a christian and have been persecuted by this horrific diagnoses and have had to investigate my rights under the laws in this state and country and have been extremely distressed at the lack of professional help to assist me both in the law and the medical proffession and I am a war veteran widow in this country and I may have australian governement recommending the change to this due to what has happened in my life as a christian with support it will be exposed and proved eronouse it is tottaly mans science and a money making enterprize. Its a total fraud and is completetly distressing in christian circle with many different opionos from christians. I am looking forward to the opportuinity of publicly speaking out in Australia soon> It truly is mans science and not Gods ways. The bible states money is the root of all evils and this is totally evil of mans unrengerated mind. Which is Gods way of saying they are mental isit. God bless all those with were wrongly diagnosed and who have been forced to comply with the doctors and take the medicine and suffer all the side effects and suffer physically. I live in the San Fran Bay Area in California and am very sad to say that the DSM.V is being looked upon as the Holy Grail/Bible to mental health. I too have believed that there is no sufficient science supporting the claims in the DSM.V and that it is primarily for funding purposes and EGOS. I have spoke with Dr Lee and he talked in circles when asked about 1WM in the ASAM which was developed to go hand in hand with DSM.V. There is also a conflict of interest with the ASAM. One of the writers is toed to the science research was developed Vivitrol. A medication given to people or detoxification management. The company makes Naltraxone.

I would like to have input from all mental health professionals. What we diagnose follows people for the remainder of their lives. The DSM V is a project I work on daily. Fewer axes, which I believe, as a clinician, need to be continually utilized

I was permanently damaged by an anti-depressant I was pressured into taking after a bereavement (Wellbutrin). Some of the side effects of these medications do NOT resolve after discontinuation of the med., and I now suffer from constant high-pitched screaming tinnitus. I have since learned that this drug performs little better than a placebo when it comes to treating depression. In fact those who take anti-depressants of any kind have worse long-term outcomes than comparable patients who do not (see the NIH STAR-D trials). Why is it that psychiatrists continue to maintain that these drugs are successful for patients when recent research quite clearly indicates they are more likely to be harmful? I would be safe and well today, if only I had not taken Wellbutrin.

As another professional psychologist stated, it's too "loose" and it's easier for normal human quirks to be labeled as a disorder. And, on top of that, the new disorders' names are almost comical. They replace legitimate disorders/differences with something like "Communication Deflect Disorder" instead calling it "Asperger's/HPA". I agree with the professional I mentioned before (I think his name was Dr. Allen), "use [the DSM-V] cautiously, if at all."

I am a teacher and also hold a Diploma of Counseling. I am greatly disturbed by the increasing influence of drug companies in the backgrounds of so many in positions of authority in these so called diagnostic areas. The huge amount of lawsuit fines for off line marketing and failure to disclose side efects must call into question the medications promoted with the increasing number of new' 'disorders'.
