Pavel Grinfeld made learned about linear algebra both fun and interesting. A feat not many teachers seem capable of today.

His love of math and teaching always shone together, making his class engaging and welcoming. he asked us to be frank with our mistakes, becasue he recognized it as part of the learning process. That is good teahcing, and I feel it made created an encouraging atmosphere in the classroom.

Dr. Grinfeld was a phenomenal course instructor. He used humour to engage his students, encouraged visits to office hours as to ensure every student was keeping up, kept an open mind to student suggestions, and taught methodically, in a fashion which made even linear algebra and differential equations easy to understand.

Dr. Grinfeld is by far the best professor I've had at Drexel. He is a lighthearted man with a positive attitude who made linear algebra feel more like a puzzle game than a difficult math class. On top of that, he is also knows his stuff and knows how to explain it to others, but saying that alone doesn't do him justice for the professor he is.

Dr. Pavel Grinfeld has been one of my favorite professors at Drexel. I have taken multiple classes with him and his ability to explain the material is on the level of the profound and leaves me with deep respect for this man. Furthermore, he is willing to sit down with anyone to figure out a problem side by side. He makes students comfortable and we always learn A LOT not only because of his commitment to our learning but because of how he presents material over the span of the course. I am not just referring to rudementary first year courses, it is the same for advanced undergraduate and graduate level courses, he is among the best at Drexel. It is not only the greatness of one lecture but the unity of all his lectures that make the difference. He reorganizes math classes so that we learn the essence of the subject. Pedagocially, his classes should be a model for Drexel classes. His lectures should continue to be filmed and be used to represent Drexel. I hope that he will be given the opportunity to spread his methodology across the Univeristy, Drexel and especially the College of Engineering would be better off. Great, great professor. I am happy to see him up for the nomination that he deserves.

Dr. Grinfeld taught a math class that was the second in a series. Upon realizing that many students still struggled with concepts from the first course, which was taught by a different professor, Dr. Grinfeld adjusted his lesson plans to cover the material that students needed. This including going over most of the concepts from the first course and shortening the second one to highlight the most important points.

Hands down, not on the best math professor, but the best professor in general I have ever had. He made every effort to get to know the students and make sure that they understood the concepts. He helped me see the beauty of linear algebra, something I carry with me to this day.

I had Pavel as a teacher for an introductory differential equations course. I believe he is an excellent candidate for this award. He takes a genuine interest in his students and made himself available outside of class to help us succeed.
