A fantastic professor with a truly innate ability to teach and convey the knowledge that he is very proficient in. He really seems to go out of his way for others to learn.

Dr. Pavel Grinfeld has a unique, and virtually unmatched ability to teach essential mathematical concepts to students from diverse educational backgrounds, including engineers, computer scientists, and physicists. I believe the reason that Pavel is so successful at this is his penchant for making complicated mathematical ideas tangible and his genuine love of mathematics that infects every student he encounters. I personally have been lucky to have had Pavel as a professor for linear algebra and differential equations at Drexel University. His teachings have greatly influenced my projects as a mechanical engineer and material scientist, and have given me the tools and confidence to take on complicated mathematical tasks in my young career. Moreover, I have witnessed how Pavel has had a transcendent effect on engineering students at Drexel University by imbuing the students with an understanding of mathematics that is uncommon and special, and an important underlying factor to the success of the engineering students who have had the pleasure of having him as a teacher.

Pavel's passion for his students is shown through his teaching. He truly cares about his students, and is able to make the most difficult of concepts easy to understand. I have taken three courses with Pavel, of which only two were required.

Pavel doesn't just teach standard material, he truly engages with students by periodically catching up with students and sending them brain teasers and extra problems to get them curious and excited about a subject!

Pavel's teaching makes advanced concepts both accessible and fun; I'm not even a math major but I've elected to take three of his courses and do and independent study with him because he is just that good.

Prof. Grinfield is thee man. Of all the teachers I've had in the math department, he has been my favorite. Interesting lectures, fair grader, and a fun experience. He is very accessible and helpful outside of class (He even gives out his cell and you can text him questions--and he answers!). He is very deserving of this award.
