Dr. Slone has been one of the greatest teachers I have had during my medical student career. His insight into clinical medicine and dedication to students is unparalleled and I feel privileged to have learned from him.

It is repugnant for the recipient of the outstanding teaching award to be dismissed because there is not enough "soft money" available for direct preceptor-apprentice education. Dr. Slone has greatly impacted my education at USFMCOM. I owe Dr. Slone a great deal in regard to my confidence in physical diagnosis and the comfortable ease in which I interact with patients.

Dr. Slone has probably been the most supportive, caring, and best person that I have met and had the privilege of learning from while at USF MCOM. His sudden departure is distressing and confusing when he has been such a fundamental part of students' learning.

Dr. Slone is an asset to the Morsani College of Medicine. He has taught me more than any other instructor on the proper techniques of physical diagnosis and patient care. He has a clear passion for education and for those who are learning from him. I feel that his instruction has been an asset to my education and a great part of the foundation which I have built my medical career on.

In my interactions with Dr. Slone, I have never seen anything less than the utmost sense of professionalism and dedication to education from him. When I learned about his dismissal, I was dismayed that the administration would remove a professor who has repeatedly gone above and beyond for the USF Health community. I believe that this decision was not in alignment with the values that USF presented to me when I entered the school. I feel that both the atmosphere at the school and my education were negatively affected. As a first year student, I sincerely hope that I will have the privilege of working with Dr. Slone in the next three years of my education.

In every interaction I have had the distinct honor or having with Dr. Slone, I have been completely impressed by his compassion and motivation to bettering the lives of students and patients. In every interaction, he has been an upstanding role model, an example of the physician I hope to become. It is hard to verbalize what he has added to our education, and I am comfortable saying that on behalf of our class knowing that the sentiment is shared. I can only imagine that future generations at USF will be missing a large opportunity to learn from Dr. Slone, and that they risk falling short of the full potential they could reach.

Everyone needs to stop kissing the administration's rear end just because they're administration. I'm sick of hearing things like or "I do not doubt administration as a whole..." ...guess what, I DO. I do not respect their decision whatsoever, and I'm not going to lie about it. Klasko can send as many emails as he wants about "new opportunities" that have opened since this administration's arrival, but the fact of the matter is this institution has only lost respect and tumbled down the rankings quicker than USF's football team. The bottom line is, we demand answers and nothing short of it. And we will not "suck up" to administrators in the hopes of receiving it.
