I live in Charlotte, but I am from Johnson City and travel back each year to attend Blue Plum with my family. At least, I did.
I am very disappointed that the festival is being moved away from downtown, where it benefitted the merchants with exposure and additional income. I was also saddened to hear the decided to charge admission to Blue Plum. I think this move will prohibit some families from being able to afford to go, and it's a mistake.
I look forward to seeing what downtown merchants will offer in its place.

One of the charms of Blue Plum is the ability to visit the local businesses and owners! A festival like this should focus on economic development for the community and not just for the actual event. I personally believe this is a big mistake. And I am curious, how is founder's park going to hold the huge amount of people and stages? Granted, I know the numbers have been grossly exaggerated over the years.

I will attend a Downtown Johnson City street festival, during which time I plan on spending money at the businesses and vendors there. I am strongly disinclined to participate in the Founders Park event.

As a vendor of the Blue Plum for years I have always enjoyed the downtown area, to see so many people upset about charging to get in this year concerns me. If people have to pay to get in they obviously won't have as much to spend on other things, vendors will also suffer a loss. You can't take something that's been free all along then start charging and expect the same turn out. This is not Rhythm & Roots. Why not continue like last year and have the seperate paid concert and beer tasting part at Founders Park?

I have attended the blue plum festival since the beginning. Having vendors, stages, and the convenience of local businesses right there in the mix make this festival unique and easy to invest into the community. Moving the location to the park alone, I feel, will decrease business for our community.
