Ohio law allows organizations an avenue to create special license plates that feature their logo or other identifying information. Every time a motorist orders such a tag, a designation cause receives a portion (typically $15) of the license plate fee. We need to signatures to show community support for Down Syndrome Awareness. Our goal is to get 1,000 signatures from Ohio motorists who would be willing to order a Down syndrome license plate. The Ohio State Legislature must pass a bill authorizing creation of the special Down Syndrome Awareness plate. We do not yet have a sponsor for a bill. We need to show that there is community support and convince an Ohio State Legislature that there is interest in a Down syndrome awareness plate. Once the Down Syndrome Awareness tag has been authorized by the State Legislature, any Ohio motorist will be able to order the tags for their vehicles. ------------------------------------------------ We, the undersigned, wish to have the State of Ohio Legislature consider a bill to authorize the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles to produce specialty license plates designated to promote Down syndrome awareness. We would purchase a Down Syndrome Specialty License Plates and we understand there would be an additional cost to the standard license plate fee and also understand a portion of the proceeds will go to Ohio Down syndrome support groups.
