Change April Fresh Downey Back to Original Scent

Bring back the original downy. Why do companies always want to mess with something that is already working? IDIOTS! BRING BACK THE ORIGINAL THAT WE ALL KNOW AND LOVE YOU DUMMIES!

My house used to have that signature April Fresh smell that guests would comment on when they entered my home. No longer the case since I cannot stand the sickening sweet smell of the modified product. Bring back the original scent P&G!

I have used Downy April Fresh fabric softener for decades, as did my mother and grandmother. I begrudgingly accepted the company's *slight* fragrance variations over the years but this most recent change did it for me. One load of laundry and my house reeks of the cheap fragrance and I have a sore throat! Sorry Downy but I'm kicking your a** out! It was a long and happy love affair over the years but you have sadly disappointed me and quite frankly you STINK!

I am so disappointed that the original april fresh scent was changed and that the Downey liquid is thinner in consistency than it used to be.

Just used my new jug of fabric softener from Costco. I was surprised and disgusted by the new scent (which smells like the cheaper suavital brand). This change was not advertised and the new smell makes my stomach churn from being so overwhelming. I'm going to throughout the whole thing and will not be buying anymore downy products without a "sniff" test first!

Please bring back the original scent of Downey. I do not like any of the scents that are out there. They start making our clothes stink after only a few hours of wearing. My whole family will not purchase any scent until the original scent comes back. Thank You and have a nice day!

the new formula for the downy April fresh liquid fabric softener smells musty - like I left my clothes in the washer for days. I have tried in vain to use your other products- tiny balls (blue, green, pink; tried mixing them), tried the new liquids- nothing smells like the old downy April fresh. This was the most popular fabric softener - I always got so many compliments on how I smelled and I told everyone - it's downy April fresh. why ruin it? Please figure out how to bring it back. Your new downy alternatives give me headaches and this new downy April fresh formula- I might as well not wash my clothes at all and they would smell the same. So awful.

The new "April Fresh" is so overwhelming it's a slam to the head. Even co-workers complained. The very worst part is the horrible rash it gave me from neck to ankles, has taken weeks to clear up since throwing the Downey in the trash. I'll never buy their products again unless they go back to the original.

Today was the first time I used a new bottle of April Fresh fabric softener (bought at Costco). Awfully disgusting smell, how could they??? :( I have always bought this at Costco, now I feel like throwing the whole thing away!)

The new scent of Downy April Fresh fabric softener sheets was so overpowering and disgusting that it permeated through the package before I even opened it. I put it in the closet to hide the smell, but the smell seeped out of the closet and stunk up the whole apartment! I finally returned the unopened package to the store. This happened about six weeks ago and there are still traces of the sickly sweet smell in the closet!

The original scent was the epitome of reassurance whether toweling off or drifting to sleep. The newer fragrances smell like cheap, strong perfume. Why not offer the original as one of the many choices?

The new scent has cause asthma attacks and my skin to break out in hives.

Well it happened again: I opened a package of towels I laundered years ago and stored in the back of my closet. I got all nostalgic for that wonderful original Downey scent when the fragrance wafted up. It is was a fragrance that I found myself missing terribly. I don't use any Downey products now-puzzled by their decision to drop what works so well. The closest I have found has been to launder my clothes in Oxydol powder detergent which also has a pleasant scent

Not only is the new smell awful but now someone in the family has developed an allery. Our Dr stated he's seen an increase of allergic reactions and he believes it's the new formula of Downey. That seems to be the common factor. I'm so disappointed. Please bring back the original formula and scent.

Growing up as a child in the 1970's Downey Original April Fresh scent was what I was raised on. When I became a wife and mother of four it was certainly the only thing I would buy for my family. Now that P.G. Changed the scent my husband and sons do not want it on their clothes. They say it smells like an old woman's perfume. They are Right. Why do the age old products from yesterday that worked great and everyone loved have to keep changing their original formulas until they are no longer recognizable. If they want a new scent then make a new scent and Leave the Classics Alone.

This newest scent is nowhere near the old April Fresh scent, it smells like chemicals and a lot of perfume and I can't even bring myself to finish my bottle, all my clothes and linens stink! I had to go to Sam's Club and bought a big Snuggles even thought Downey was on sale. I never used Snuggles before cause I didn't like it but it smells better now than the new April Fresh. Don't try to fix what wasn't broken!

I just bought the April Fresh, April 3, and it is way too 'perfumey'. Not the clean, fresh, wonderful smell of when it all began when my adult children were kids. Must I go back to the white vinegar I have used in my wash for several years now? Please give us a non-allergenic, light, original smell. April fresh scented soft clothes would fill my home with love. Yes, I was doing house work, but it was so nurturing. Now, it's just drudgery! I can't stand any of the new Downy smells, and none of them make the clothes as soft. Even the "boosters" smell gross and do nothing for softness (what a waste in my opinion). Also for the knowledge of anyone else here, they DO sell the original april fresh scent in downy unstopables. The downy unstopables scent in "spring" is the same scent as the old april fresh scent.

For some, like myself, scent is such an important part of life - particularly when it's a beloved nostalgic scent. The original April Fresh scent I grew up with and used throughout my 20s and 30s made me happy every laundry day. I was like a commercial, sniffing every towel before folding it. I loved how my clothes smelled! It sounds a little crazy but truth is, it's been a really sad thing to lose that scent so many years ago. I'd beg for it to be reintroduced if I knew who to plead with.

I love the original April fresh downy.. this one is gross over powering rancid smell

Having used April Fresh Downy all my adult life I actually would back stock as to never be without. UNTIL the day I opened one that had the new scent! I knew immediately something was not right. Look fabric softener and it’s scent is on everything we use on a daily basis. From clothing, bedding, towels and so on. So having that comforting scent you’ve known for years ripped away without notice (yep not even a mention on the packaging that it had been changed) was a bit disappointing. I haven't bought Downey since they changed it

until they change back I will not be buying or using downy this scent gives me a headache

Yeah i washed my clothes with the new april fresh softener and my clothes smelled like a musty fart. We need the original scent back, because the new formula sucks.

I REALLY don’t like this new product. The smell is not so much the issue. The product is too thick. It doesn’t mix well in the water, it stains the clothes, it’s terrible. I’ve been a downy user for 40 plus years. I started noticing something was off. Didn’t know why my Downy was acting this way. Then saw the researched online and saw this change. And April Fresh is what I’m using. This must be the culprit. Bring back the old. Don’t fix something that’s not broken. Thanks for listening. I know you’ll do the right thing.

Why on earth would you change a smell that has been SO SUCCESSFUL for so many decades- make another scent but please don’t do away with what Downy REALLY smells like. PLEASE

I will not buy Downy April Fresh again until I know it has been changed back. Have used for many years and liked the old scent. The new one is awful!! Have a huge bottle I have to throw out. Contacted Downy and their solution is to send me a prepaid card for $10. I would rather they said they were considering changing back to the old scent.

The new smell is awful. I knew something was different, I couldn’t figure out what the weird smell was, it’s my clothes. I’ve started taking clothes out of my closet, washing and using vinegar in the rinse.

Why won't you bring back the original April Fresh? It's obvious it would be a top seller. I, for one, do not purchase Downy anymore because I have found a store brand that smells more like the old April fresh than any of your current scents.

I bought the biggest bottle of Downey I could find in 2010. I was celebrating a new house and new washer/dryer. I used it and the smell went through the whole house. I emailed company and they said they discontinued it. I told them the new formula smelled like dime store aftershave. I switched to fragrance free. They ruined Tide detergent too!

when I first used Bliss you could walk in to a room and people noticed ! now hardly any sent at all . Please change back or you have lost a customer !!!

I recently bought a new Bounty and was very concerned that I might have COVID-19 because the smell was so different from what I was expecting. After having several in my family smell of it, my husband suggested that it was not the same formula. Yuck - I can’t stand this new smell. Please give us the original scent back, or I’ll have to find a different product.

I have always loved the LIGHT scent of Downy. I can no longer use it because it is way to strong. I tried to water it down but the amount of water I needed to add took away from the softness and was still to strong of a scent. I stopped using it all together. Please change it back and add it to the numerous other products you have to offer. Atleast do a trial run to see if enough people buy it to keep it.

I won’t be purchasing Downy again. The scent is disgusting, smells like chemicals or bug spray. I had been buying large containers so as not to have to shop as often, but then to cut expenses I quit buying it. Just a few days ago I purchased a smaller bottle at the grocery store but after washing a couple of loads discovered my laundry didn’t smell fresh or clean. This is totally unacceptable. And another P&G product, Tide, is not the same either. REALLY, my money is going down the drain in more ways than one. Pffffffft!

Please give the people who used Downy in the 1960s and made you # 1, their old formula back!! It was perfect until you changed the formula and for the life of me I can’t figure out why you’d mess up your own product when it was the number 1 selling fabric softener??!! I haven’t been able to use it since it made my skin break out and the overly strong smell is sickening!! Listen to your customers!!

So dislike the new scent, and my husband with COPD can’t tolerate it at all. So sorry someone came up with the bad idea to “improve” it.

Tide, Gain and now Downey all have a new scent, "Essence de Locker Room". I gave up on all of them. My laundry doesn't have a lasting fragrance now, but at least it doesn't smell dirtier coming out of the washer than it did going in.

It now smells like old, old perfume.

Why can’t P&G simply offer both products, the ORIGINAL APRIL FRESH as well as the sickeningly sweet old perfume covering bad odor, scent? WE MISS THE ORIGINAL APRIL FRESH SCENT SO MUCH!! We love our clothes to smell clean & fresh instead of like old perfume, or perfume of any kind, & ORIGINAL APRIL FRESH provided that! Why would P&G want to push loyal customers into having to purchase other brands just to try & come close to achieving that APRIL FRESH clean scent when P&G could solve our dilemma right away just by making the Downy Original April Fresh Scent available to us again? PLEASE!

Terrible substitutes. I just did laundry today and my comforter is burning my eyes, plus it stinks. Isn't this false advertising, plus bilking the public? Thick, sludgy, and stinky. Sickening at best.

The best scent ever. Smells like fresh hung laundry and I don't have a reaction to them. All the new stuff makes me itchy. It also made my laundry soft and fluffy. Why they would ever change such a proven success stuns me. Must've been bought by a competitor and they got rid of it so they could sell their other crap.
