With many of the original fleet of cars still in use today, it is a tramway of important historical value. Popular with locals and visitors, it must be retained for future generations.

What about our unique heritage? Our Steam Railway, Snaefell Railway, Electric Trams, Laxey Mines railway, Groudle Glen railway etc etc AND THE HORSE TRAMS are all part of the attraction not only for visitors but for residents of the Isle of Man. We should be proud and very protective of them.

I made strong representations (in writing) in favour of retaining the Horse Tramway during both the public consultation and public enquiry into the overall Promenade scheme, citing, amongst other points, the very important heritage aspect.

I have been to the Isle of Man as a tourist for more than 25 times since 1984, returning to spend my holidays there in this year. Not just the Laxey wheel, but also the Electric Railway, the Snaefell Railway and at last the Douglas Horse Tram have always been very special attractions for me. When I heard that this service shall be cancelled I was really sad. You have unique attractions in the Isle of Man that make Your island something very special. Please, don´t stop this.

History cannot be replaced, it needs to be preserved just like our heritage.

One of the main reasons we visit the Island and possibly unique in the British Isles . If it was a building it would be grade 1 star listed .

Please post the link for tourists asap! Dear Policy Makers, Like it or not, The Isle of Man is known for their A-N-I-M-A-L-S. I have owned Manx cats, just as my father did before me. These cats have a combination of abilities and personality that is unique in the cat world. Animal lovers from around the world stop by the Isle of Man because of this association. Cats don't pull trams that can carry people, so horses are a wonderful animal related connection for them. Go read about the New York City Carriage Travesty that is unfolding now. Mayor DeBlasio's primary election donor is the Storage Unit King of New York. These horses have an amazing safety record, but these bastards are ignoring this, to claim the lucrative real estate under the horse barns, because of "concerns for the safety and well being of the horses and humans." If you want huge black marks placed across your names for the rest of your lives, just like DeBlasio will have for the rest of his entire life, go right on ahead and discontinue this service. If Mayor DeBlasio ever tries for any other elective office, ever, I will be right there screaming in front of the cameras. My fellow horse drivers, on a 2500 member driving email list, have committed our lives to ensuring that this man never works for an elective office again, and that he never works in any kind of promotional capacity for a private employer. Blatant crooks are not tolerated anymore in this interconnected world. One million dollars a year is NOTHING to be an iconic and unique cultural draw to your island. These horses will be butchered when you take their jobs away, and I will make sure that you personally have to attend their processing, standing by them for days while they barely eat enough to survive, then stand next to them for hours, in a blood and urine filled chute, as they await their turn in horror, then are fully conscious while they are briefly paralyzed, strung, up by one leg, and gutted.

Douglas horse trams are an important visitor attraction. Isle of Man Government and Douglas Corporation need to wake up to the historic value of this tramway, furthermore it should stay where it is; in the centre of the promenade and not pushed to one side!

Stop throwing away our culture. The horse trams are the only public transport ones left in Britain. Why don't you value anything other than money.
