This must not be allowed to happen

Don't see why we have to loose the trams, it's so nice to see them in the summer months. What will they put in its place, as I thought Douglas was the capital, so if they loose this they might start loosing trade, bring them to Ramsey and use our lovely big prom, just redesign the trams to be wheels so no need for a line to be put down. This will make some people's blood boil. Please keep the horse trams.

This is a very short sighted decision. The horse trams are an Island asset, not just an inconvenience for Douglas, and as such, funding should be found from the common purse.

Victor harbour in Australia is the only other place in the world with horse drawn trams, we have friends who visited to island to celebrate the 120th anniversary of the trams. Somebody needs to give the trams Manx National Heritage status so they are not lost for future generations.

I hearby call for the immediate resignation and forcible deportation of all involved in this ludicrous decision.

Grew up with the trams, would be a shame to lose it. If it is in the way of traffic could it simply be moved beside the beach path.

Mention Isle Of Man, to and the first thing people think of are the horse drawn trams, Douglas is just another town like any other without the horses

Don't ban the horse trams! People come from all over to pay for them!

This is a really bad decision, we should be holding onto our heritage, especially when it's disappearing around the world. Our heritage sets us apart from the rest of the world.

What a catastrophe, secret meeting of Douglas Counselors and the MHK's and MLC's. This is just another nail in our islands coffin, get rid of the old boys club and use you vote to depose this government..

The horse drawn trams are a historic piece of Douglas and the Isle of Man and as such they must be kept operating. Typical accountant and bean counter reaction to this invaluable service needing some assistance. Unbelievable short sightedness but then, that is always the way with faceless bean counters. Hang your heads in shame who ever you are !!!

Outrageous decision

Once again a decision has been reached without any consultation with the Islands population. A case of mind over matter. They don't mind and we don't matter. Time they realised that 'Our Heritage' is important to us and we the people deserve the right to make decisions about it.

This is our heritage, we must save it, once it has gone we will never get it back

Even if I'm not a regular user of this tram, I considerer it's a part of the Douglas landscape … as the palm trees I saw on the Promenade the first time I visited the island in 1980.

Let the ratepayers make the decision on whether they want to carry on paying for the trams and be told how much their rates would increase if they voted to keep the trams
