The horse trams are a unique heritage feature of the Douglas Promenade scene. Their loss would have a negative impact on the tourist industry.

Very sad news. What is the future for the remaining Island heritage items, the MER, the Laxey wheel etc if this closure goes ahead. I feel for the employees.

It will be huge loss to the tourist traffic. One of the attractions of visiting Douglas and the IOM is the unique Horse Tramway.

That rules out a visit to Isle of Man this summer (2016) Terrible destroying the wonderful history of transport so unique in the world. Will be going to Seaton instead.

This marvel of transport that's ceases to exist in many places in the world should not be allowed to disappear from the promenade at Douglas

Would be an enormous loss to the Island. I enjoyed riding all the different types of transport on my last visit and the Horse Tramway was a highlight.

This is a fantastic advert for the Island to us tourists. Last year when I visited people got on it for just a few stops, why because they thought they would miss out if they didn't.

I am proud to be Manx, but horrified by so many of the decisions made by those in power. When you mention the Isle of Man to anyone, the first things they mention are the TT races, Manx Cats and the Horse Cars! The Horse cars make Douglas special and give it an atmosphere that is not found anywhere else in the British Isles. I can't bear to think that my young grandchildren might not have the opportunity to travel on one. The old fashioned " Bucket and Spade" holidays are a thing of the past, but more discernable tourists want to learn about, and experience, our heritage. Instead of having the horse cars running every day, why not make them a feature at weekends?
