The Manx national heritage protects the castles, historic buildings etc. The horse trams are historic and have been preserved for generations for people from the Isle of Man and visitors to enjoy. I feel very strongly that you should preserve a historic transport option that adds to the Isle of mans uniqueness. Regardless of your justification if there are budget restrictions were is the public consultation, the transparency, the attempt to engage with people to back and preserve and keep the horse trams. I hope the proposal to remove the horse trams is reconsidered as its seems very foolish

I presume the council are voted in, if so it should be made very clear to them " no horse trams, no vote "

I was planning to ride on this when i make my first trip this year to the IoM.
A definite loss to tourism.

Save this valuable piece of the Isle of Man and of history. Lots of things run at a loss and aren't scrapped!

This is a key link between the steam railway and the electric tramway. It would be madness to close it.

Closing of this line MUST NOT be allowed. This is definitely a tourist attraction and the island would be much poorer without it.

I love Isle of man. The horse trams are great and must continue. The small loss does not compare with economic benefits it brings to the iseland

A foolish backwards looking decision which shows the Douglas Corporation has no interest in providing facilities for tourists to the island

My wife and I had plans to visit the island, this year, for the 140th anniversary of the horse trams. Those plans have now been axed because of the closure and we'll go elsewhere, now.
The horse trams may well run at a loss, but how much extra revenue do they bring in each year, from tourists wanting to sample horse trams in regular use, rather than on special running days. A very shortsighted decision that the council and Douglas will come to rue in future years...

Having just booked our holiday to the IOM this week... partly on the basis the horse trams would be operating...and having committed to spending almost £900 on accommodation and £300 on flights, plus spending money when we get there (riding on MER, IOMR, SMR including evening dinning events), restaurants, entertainment etc etc... It came as a bit of a shock that this decision has been taken without reference to the wider impact to tourism!

Totally unbelievable decision - something so unique and priceless - the Island has lost so much over the past decade, this for me is the final straw, after loving and visiting the Island since 1959, i just cant be bothered to sopend my hard earned money anymore to visit a place which has such disregard for its unique and priceless heritage.
