Douglas Horse Tramway To Be Scrapped - Manx Tourists Petiton

I want to visit the island in part to see and ride on the horse trams. If they are scrapped, I will definitely rethink my plans.

It will ruin the character of Douglas. This is the only one left in the world, a working museum.

i only come to the island to travel on the heritage railways and i think it a disgrace you are stopping the horse trams what will be next "steam or electric " i have already booked this or i would be thinking twice

Isle of Man- still interested in visitors, or only tax avoiders? Loose the horse tram and are the remaining railways sufficient to attract tours?

Douglas would not be the same without these horse drawn trams, they need saving.

Part of the reason many people come to the along with the other heritage attractions, Douglas sea front would just be another sad former sea side town, lost and forlorn. When you come off the ferry and drive up the promenade you are in the Isle of Man, the only place in the world to have horse trams on the sea front. Only one word - MADNESS

What a foolish and short sighted decision by Douglas Corporation

This is what makes the Isle of Man such a special place to visit, please don't scrap this tramway!!

I hope common sense prevails.

This closure decision MUST be reversed !

I hope this is retained - the cost to the Corporation to run it would no doubt be returned to it through the added visitation to the area from people wanting to experience the unique trams.

For many visitors the horse trams are the IOM ! The loss of them would change the character of Douglas for the worse

Should be classified as a national monument like SF cable cars

Please keep this unique attraction alive. We were looking forward to having a ride in May this year!

Instead of getting rid of a unique attraction, it would be better if the Tourist Board spent more time putting together special holidays that would attract more tourists to the island. The Island is rich in tourist attractions that are grossly under-utilised but closing them is attacking the problem from the wrong end. Incidentally, spending on keeping the horse cars running is a fraction of the costs of the numerous white elephant grossly overspent projects undertaken by the IOM Government over the last 30 years. In comparison, keeping the horse tramway running wold be a far better investment.

You'll regret letting something so unique go. Think long term.

All vintage public transport is also an important tourist attaction and generates extra income for the council, don`t forget that. Not only motorcycle races.
