Sneaky underhand decision from the Douglas councillors, put them out to grass rather than the horses.

There is little enough of the tourist attractions left in the Isle of Man . I always looked forward to riding the trams as a child living in the Isle of Man and going back as an adult. I was on one of the last trams running. How sad that Island life is becoming all about money and not the keeping the character and tradition of the Island!

I remember as a child going to the Isle of Man on holiday and used to love going on the horse and trams. I hope they don't scrap them as that will be a piece of history gone.

Scandalous destruction of Manx heritage.

Preserving the past is SO important. The horse tramway is one of the reasons people visit the Isle of Man. What logic is there to close it?

Utter Madness. Around the world money is being spent to rebuild lost heratage. New Steam locos Tall Ships etc. On the Isle of Man you have something irreplaceable and all you need to do is look after it. Instead its scrapped. Utter utter madness.

I had many childhood holidays here and that's what the Isle of Man was famous for - you are taking away your culture! The Isle of Man will never be the same if the horse trams are taken away and also not worth visiting may I add!

Shame on Douglas council for this decision, the horse trams are what people think of when they think of the IOM, they are the IOM

Let's keep the tourist attraction alive and well instead of thinking of the almighty pound all the time. If one attraction is removed, a domino effect is realised, where tourists will not come to see other attractions because the one they want to see and experience is not there. Is the Isle of Manx to fade away because of short sighted councillors?

I would ask Douglas Corporation to seriously reconsider their decision. Douglas will never be the same without this unique wonderful historic tramway. It is a vital tourist attraction that needs to be saved at all costs. Perhaps a voluntary arrangement could be set up to keep the tramway running. But scrapping the tramway is definitely not an option.

This unique tramway should be preserved for ever!

This is unique in the British Isles. Destroy it and we lose a piece of history and a chapter inn the story of transport.

A significant part of the UK and Manx heritage. It should be saved.

The Douglas councillors really don't understand what drives their rates income. Tourists spending and staying in their town. Cut heritage, cut rates. Time for new councillors.. And how arrogant not to even bother engaging with Manx Heritage before the decision.

These types of transit options are highly beneficial for the local economy. A horse line is unique and will bring in tourists and help the local merchants who depend on tourism for their livelihood. I encourage you to reverse course and instead operate the line.

Even in these modern times the Isle of Man retains many unique features of which the horse trams are a part. These features set the Isle of Man apart from most places and make it a different place and interesting place to visit. To get rid of the horse trams would be a very big nail in the coffin for visitor attractions on the island. I hope a workable solution can be found to retain them.

Such a unique feature. They will be banning motorsport and tearing down Laxey wheel next. All features that make the Isle of Man special.

outrageous decision....how can you just scrap 140 years of heritage and history. Get rid of the morons who made the decision not the trams!
