I cannot believe that Douglas corporation can be so short sighted - maybe it was getting in the way of their limousines?

Does Douglas have a Death Wish? What is Douglas known for across the World? The Horse Trams! Without them it is has no special selling point and is just another rather run down seaside town which is expensive to get to and expensive to stay in.

Devastated at the news. One of the most unique features of the IOM is the horse tramway. Are the goverment tourist dept. going to stand idly by & watch the tram rails ripped up & the tramcars shipped overseas? How will they market that one to us tourists? Over the years the tramway has attracted many locals & visitors who like us will be very unhappy at this decision. As it is the 140th year the horse trams should run whilst plans to save them long term are put in place, perhaps with a new & more sympathetic operator!

Too many places are rushing headlong into rash decisions that lose them part of their heritage. All that is traditional and loved by visitors is being lost, and it's time to start saving that. I'm not aux faix with the financial ins and outs, but an asset should be judged on the basis of its value over the years, not just its cost over recent years. We are in a recession, coming back out the other side there will be a wave of people looking to revisit places that remind them of happier times. I believe the horse drawns are a major memory of people who visit the Isle of Man and that Douglas prom would be a sadder place without them. Don't be just another dull seaside town...be forward thinking

Your Victorian transport network is what has brought my family repeatedly to the island. Close this and we will not come again.

As the link between the Steam railway (Port Erin) to the Electric Railway (Ramsay), I think this would not be a good move for the Manx tourism industry.

As a former resident, I appreciate that some Islanders found it to be an irritation to be stuck behind at times, but please please think again. This is one of your traditions that makes you so unique!

The horse tramway is an important piece of the island's history and heritage, and must be allowed to continue. Extend the MER and run a reduced horse service over the same tracks would be a solution.

My family loved riding on the horse trams on holiday. One of the many features that drew us to the Isle of Man. A very important part of world heritage to show younger generations. Our boys were fascinated by them

They say loss making but how much revenue do they bring to the IOM? The horse trams are on all the tourism advertising literature and bring tourists to the Island year on year.
