I am Manx born and bred and now living in England - it would be a real shame to lose one more piece of heritage.. how many more things will go.. i'm voting to keep this and also to restore Ramsey Queens Pier.. very soon there will be nothing left for the tourists!

This is an integral and wonderful feature that we love every time we visit. Scrapping it would be a short sighted disgrace.

I'm very disappointed to hear this news! Myself and many others have not yet had the pleasure of riding on this unique tramway. Myself and many others are now unlikely to visit Douglas which will hurt the city's economy . Closing the tramway is a very short sighted decision indeed!

As the last working horse tramway in Britain, this is a unique heritage asset, as well as an important tourist attraction. There has to be a way of saving this from extinction.

This should absolutely be protected as a part of Manx heritage. To lose it would be a massive mistake.

What crass stupidity. I question why a bunch of self-interested, rich politicians should be allowed to destroy such a precious asset. Not due to the fact that the trams interfere with the 'rich boys toys' of 4x4s and SUVs driving along the promenade is it?

Please save this unique form of transport which deserves World Heritage status.

I've never been to the Isle of Man before but it would be a shame to axe the horse tramway and I think it should be saved.

The horse trams are a huge attraction for visitors, as seen from the fact that they are often full up! Please reverse this ridiculous decision and preserve part of the island's heritage.

Are they mad. The sight and sounds of The horse trams are essential to the well being of Douglas. You will regret it for ever if you banish them

This seems very short sighted to take away an important tourist attraction
