It's part of the Manx tradition and shouldn't be taken away.

The Douglas Horse Tramway is an intergral part of the Island's heritage transport. Its closure will lead to a further reduction in tourism to the Isle of Man. It will reduce the patronage on the MER, SMR and Steam Railway, putting the future of those lines in jeopady

Douglas without the house trams is unthinkable. I am Manx, living in the UK but hoping to return to live soon. They should be preserved whatever the cost.

Only a short sighted goverment would even think about stopping them. More fool you. Another reason not to bother with the island

It's all to easy to remove the historic under the guise of unimportant. This modern history is hugely important not just to the IoM but the UK as a whole

Douglas would not be Douglas without the horse trams. They would be irreplaceable. Do not destroy the Manx heritage.

This is one of Douglas's great selling points. I will be less likely to visit in the future, it will lose its uniqueness.

I've only been to Douglas once, but the horse tram was a highlight for me. Please don't lose it.

The horse trams should not be scrapped altogether it is part of our heritage. The horse trams are loved and enjoyed by the children I'm the island.. there is very little to do here for families as it is, if the government gets rid of these then what will we offer tourists that we get?!

This is as unique to the Island as the TT is, it needs to be kept

Its part of what the IOM is all about, put a £1 levy on fares to IOM to help!

The trams are part of the character of the Island. Please don't scrap them - it would be such a loss

Don't destroy a globally unique experience ... where else do you get horse trams, electric trams, steam railway and fleet modern mercedes buses. Please don't do it!!!!!

You can't do away with the horse-drawn trams. It's one of my favourite means of traveling the Douglas prom. -Ryan Boston, MA, USA

probably the only remaining horse tramway in the world and a wonderful heritage. Why stop after 140 years, unless you're just trying to kill off tourism.....

What next? Close the steam line or Laxey wheel?

My husband and I are regular visitors to the Isle of Man I wonder why Douglas Council have made such an ill conceived decision - can't they see that reducing the attractions will reduce the visitor numbers?

As a long time visitor to the Isle of Man I am perplexed why the Douglas Council wish to kill the goose which lays the golden egg. Short term gain will bring long term loss in my view and I urge reconsideration.

As a holiday maker for over 20 years to the Isle of Man the reason we come is for these horse trams. Other trains and trams can be found around the UK but the horse trams are unique in the world and should be kept!
