Action plan to reduce traffic congestion in Dorking

Need to do something urgently. Last weekend was a complete nightmare with road works outside Sainsbury's. every time I went passed with my kids the work men were in their van on another break. People avoid Dorking because of the traffic. More Shops are closing . Soon look like a ghost town with lots of empty units

if the traffic flows faster more people will not just bypass the town, helping out the independents and the businesses as a whole.

just past Lidl needs to be double yellows to stop cars parking just after bus stop. One car parking there stops anyone driving down the left lane wanting to turn into the companies along left or down towards Westcott!

Really feel a major review is necessary. Particularly areas such as Vincent Lane (access to Lidl not working), coming into Dorking from Westcott every day is an issue.

Sort it out, do the road works at night!

It's so obvious there is a lack of footfall in town at the moment in comparison to a few years back. The congestion is beyond a joke.

im fortunate enough to be able to walk into town, but i no longer really have a choice as i can walk down, shop, eat, drink, in the time it takes me to drive the (what should be)normal 5minute drive.

The traffic going down Vincent lane is terrible also coming along the Westcott road. West street up through town gets very congested. Something needs to be done.

It is beyond a joke and affecting trade, people's lives and so on. DO SOMETHING

I agree the whole town needs looking at

Congestion became noticeably worse when pedestrian lights were first installed at West Street/Pump Corner years ago and has got worse with every new change (Waitrose, Lidl). Congestion is now intolerable and the damage caused to local businesses, residents and commuters is unforgivable. Surrey County Council should be ashamed of themselves for their sheer arrogance and incompetence in allowing the traffic management system in Dorking to continue when they know it is NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE.

To be fair there just is more traffic on the road and Dorking is a bottleneck. However, more still could be looked into in town to reduce the impact so I support this petition. I do also think locals/people in general have a responsibility to avoid using cars where it is is practical to do so.

This needs reviewing urgently? The traffic lights at the junction of Vincent Lane and The A25 seem to have made the traffic worse than it was with the roundabout before? Generally a bad situation with gridlock around the town in several places and at most times of the day?
