Last Friday morning and afternoon saw Dorking gridlocked yet again morning and afternoon. Who sanctioned the works to pavements in Dorking High Street with the attendant workers' lorry reducing the High Street to one lane at the same time that Ashcombe Road was closed? Surely these could be done on Sundays when traffic volume and town centre footfall is much less than mid week.

Being a mobile hairdresser living in Dorking town, the traffic makes it difficult for me to organise my time to get to clients, I have lost my early morning clients as I can never get out of Dorking on time, I live in Rose Hill

How about a Park & Ride outside of the town...this would reduce traffic and help with the parking problems.

And it is about to get worse isn't it with the application for 1100+ HGVs to get to the Leith Hill drilling site which has a deadline for responses tomorrow. Via A24, up Flint Hill, Knoll Road by the school! And up coldharbour lane with its sign 'unsuitable for heavy vehicles'

Consider making Junction Rd one way in the opposite direction to reduce the amount of traffic at Pump Corner. Pedestrian Crossing lights around Deepdene roundabout spray red far too long.

Have lived in Dorking for nearly 30 years - it is scandalous that the council have allowed this situation to get so bad. It took me 40 mins to get from North Holmwood to Wickes last week - should take max 10 mins. Disaster after disaster since adding new/expanded shops and more traffic lights - This needs to be sorted now - The good people of Dorking have had enough of this farsical situation !

Congestion is horrendous in Dorking as is parking. It's about time that something was done about it.

Thinking further, a new north + west bypass would be very good. Link A25 north of Brockham to A24 south of Westhumble. Then across east of Ranmore Common to A25 east of Wetscott. Then past Home Farm to join the current A24 just west of the southern roundabout. This would take much traffic out of the town centre, and do much to reduce queuing on the main roads in and leading to Dorking.

No easy answer. Widening West Street very difficult. Widen A24 bypass to 2 lanes each way. Flyover for A24 at southern roundabout, Underpass at A25 roundabout.. Maybe divert east-west through traffic via A2003 north of town. More free parking. Maybe mini-roundabouts at Westcott Road / Vincent Lane and Station Road / West Street. Two lanes ahead eastbound at Reigate Road / London Road. A western bypass would be useful, but probably too expensive.

The traffic lights outside Waitrose are red for far too long for the number of cars exiting Junction Road. Ridiculous.

The road from Westcott to dorking is very bad, difficult due to quantity at busy times coming into dorking, I think is hindered by the lights and the fact you have effectively 4 flows of traffic merging at the lights by vets and traffic merging at the star pub. The road needs widening from outside lidol, so it can operate as 2 lanes all the way to lights at vets and the ability to park after lidol from the bus stop removed, as 1 car parked can hold up the entire lane of traffic along that stretch of road. Which could be 2 lanes. At the star pub intersection, moving of the white lines across towards the atlas side of the rd, would allow a proper 2 lane approach to this intersection allowing a proper lane approach for turning traffic towards Westcott.

Vincent Lane: Extend double yellow lines from Bus stop, South, approx. 50M. Remove all lights from junction of A25/Vincent Lane. Install roundabout OR let the traffic sort itself out.
Pump Corner: Remove all lights and install Zebra Crossings.
Waitrose: Install Timed lights ON DEMAND.
Parking: To many private cars get away with parking in the High Street.
Rigerous enforcement is required and only allow parking on one side on a Sunday

Queuing on Westcott Road into Dorking takes too long because of the sheer volume of traffic

Thank you for organising this, it is becoming impossible to go through Dorking quickly. Traffic signals and the entrance to Lidl need attention. I was waiting at the bottom of Vincent road last week, and every time the lights changed up to 12 cars were coming in from Westcott completely blocking the junction and only one or if we were really lucky two were able to cross from Vincent Lane..

To my knowledge in over 30yrs the problem has not improved and the Council have done nothing about it.The approach from Westcott is horrendous, and the 'supposed' re-phasing of the traffic lights is useless. To allow parking in Vincent Lane opposite Arundel Road causes a bottleneck restricting the free flow of traffic in the one way system awaiting to turn left towards Guildford.

Some shops are beginning to notice a decline in business because of the serious traffic jams .The Council must act quickly .

West Street through flow East is a major problem
