Don't Rezone! Preserve The Virginia Creeper Trail!

People come to Abingdon from all over the country and from around the world because of the historic district, the Creeper Trail and the Barter. They won't drive half an hour to come to a new grocery store. You really are in peril of damaging one of your primary assets. A small investment to purchase the right of way has been paid back many times in tourist dollars. Commercial development is not going to draw people.

Please preserve the natural surroundings of the Creeper Trail. The area doesn't need more shopping centers. Instead, the people need a place they can go to find some peace.

We love Abingdon, visit often from Roanoke, take out-of-town friends there to visit, and extoll it to potential tourists on social media, meaning the Abingdon What Am. Do not mess it up with commercialization like the rest of the country does its treasures. Respect the history, the nature.

Abingdon is a one of the most wonderful places to visit. If you destroy what makes your town unique to all the rest of the commercial heavy exits.. then you stop being special and become just like the rest..

This trail has been a huge part of this entire areas occupants. It meets physical and mental needs that we all need. We cannot kill what little nature we have left. Think about all of the animals that we've already ran out of THEIR homes. THE TRAIL CANNOT BE DESTROYED.

Please don't rezone. Do the traffic studies and the environmental assessment before you make this decision. Take into the consideration the all of revenue the Creeper Trail provides the Town of Abingdon and how that could diminish.

This rezoning is asinine. The Supervisors have completely lost their perspective on what is important to Abingdon.

Don't ruin the creeper trail! All for development but not I'm that area!

I am stunned that this is even being considered. The Creeper Trail should not be disturbed under any circumstances, just like Central Park in NYC.

Why do we need another Food City?

There has to be another area besides the creeper trail that can be used for development. Or reconsider the massive size of this project.This seems unnecessary and costly. We need to take pride in the things we have and improve on those things not destroy them.

Unneeded the shopping center we have is more than fine.

The Virginia Creeper Trail brings loads of tourist money to Abingdon and most tourists start traveling the trail on the first mile where the rezoning would take place. I think it it would be a shame to ruin the scenery and take away the sense of being somewhat remote while walking, biking, or horseback riding on the trail. It would also be a shame for regular tourists to lose interest in Abingdon.

Shame on you, Abingdon.

Tear down old buildings to rebuild. Don't destroy beautiful hillsides!!

Fredericksburg Virginia is a historic town that has been surrounded by development which has affected the viability of the local shops in town. Commercial development always has a negative effect on historic areas. The Virginia Creeper is a unique treasure which should not be impacted by hastily impractical decisions. Future visits to this wonderful town will be greatly diminished if this development is approved.

I live in Bristol and frequently visit this section of the Creeper Trail both walking and biking. I ask that you not develop this area so close to the Trail. It will spoil the natural beauty of the Creeper Trail in this section.

Please keep the trail the way it is!!! We don't need any developments near it. That defeats the whole purpose of getting out in nature and walking/riding the trail.

There is no need for another food city. The county already has an abundance of them. So don't go destroying God's creation, just to put big building up.
