I spent almost every weekend for four years running this incomparably beautiful trail with my college teammates. It would be an injustice to future runners, walkers, riders, etc. - not to mention the area's history- to commercialize this beautiful countryside where many go to feel closer to God. Shame on whoever is trying to rid southwest Virginia of its heritage and beauty.

Once again, so called 'progress' and profit attempts to extinguish history and nature. How will any of this proposed development benefit this community, the Trail or the wildlife that sustains itself here? Answer....not at all. What it will do is disrupt migratory, breeding and birth patterns and rates of native wildlife. Destroy small business in this community and discourage tourism to the Trail. I urge you to consider these before you let the empty promises of Big Money blind you.

Another commercial development that destroys natural land and displaces the wildlife is not needed. The destruction of nature so to build more retail establishments is teaching the next generation to just destroy what ever stands in the way of spending more money on junk they don't need and to treat nature as an expendable nuisance.

This would be very sad. We have been going to the Creeper trail for years and would not be the same. All for a sports complex as well, but not visible from the Creeper Trail.

As a voting citizen, this is not something exit 17 needs. It's crowded enough and people come for the natural beauty, not building structures.

Please do NOT rezone this area. It will ruin why folks from all over the country come to ride the Creeper Trail & enjoy Beautiful Abingdon!! Putting the shopping center, hotel, etc. right next to the Creeper Trail will actually drive away folks. It will also drop Abingdon from the most beautiful towns type lists.

This is a beautiful part of Virginia and a well loved trail that is so beloved because of its peace, tranquility and removal from commercial activity. This area should be preserved for present and future generations to enjoy its natural beauty.

This development should not proceed. The Virginia Creeper Trail is a valuable asset to the area.

Why infringe on the beauty of the creeper trail. This area should be protected not only for it's natural beauty but also one of the areas only tourist attractions

Abingdon has lots of retail space to use and already has a food city in a good location. The trail is a peaceful place to visit.

One of our areas greatest draws is the natural beauty of the Creeper Trail. Build a grocery somewhere else! Don't rezone!
