Don't Rezone! Preserve The Virginia Creeper Trail!

We need all the green we can get!

Wait, slow down. Let's get more information concerning what stores, what kind of sports complex, etc. Let's not vote yet.

The actions of the people behind the rezoning proposal are reckless and short-sighted. Not only will it have a negative impact in the tangible sense, but we would also be degrading a beautiful public resource beyond reclamation.

I think filing a court injunction is our best shot at stopping or at least delaying and possibly reach a compromise.

DON'T MESS WITH THE CREEPER TRAIL! IT'S A NATIONAL TREASURE.

Surely our Town leaders can find a way to make this work without it so significantly impacting the nature-way of the trail. It's not always about how much Steve Smith will contribute to the County. We have lots of people who come to Abingdon just for the experience of popping into nature right from the middle of town! It's part of what makes it unique!

Please reconsider rezoning the land around the Creeper Trail. This is an important part of our town's culture, history, and attraction, and it would be a shame to see it hurt by this potential project. Many people come from miles away to bike or walk on the Creeper Trail. Preserve its value and rethink this rezoning.

There are places that were newly built in Abingdon meant to be storefronts and they remain empty after many years.. They really need to explore those places and the older real estate that is just rotting away. Don't go destroying more beautiful nature just for the almighty dollar....leave that historical place be...we are not a metropolis

I am an avid user of the Creeper Trail. Biking, hiking, running - all of it. I'd hate to see such a vital part of our town's history and culture marred by this careless development. The Town Council can do better than this! Please pressure them to either scrap or reform this rezoning.

I have used the Creeper for many, many years as a frequent visitor to Abingdon. It is part of the unique, historical value of this beautiful town. Don't mess with what makes you so special. Please. You don't need another grocery store, particularly not at this location. Preserve it for others to enjoy. Please.

We do not need another food city in Abingdon, We have one and that one has been just fine.

This development is not appropriate alongside the Creeper Trail. This is the development that should go in at the Meadowview exit instead of the truck stop that is being inappropriately built there. We have something special in Abingdon. Let's not let destroy it. We need to be leading the way in developing Abingdon and Washington County in ways that are green and sustainable. We need to support development, but not in inappropraite locations.

Please preserve the Virginia Creeper Trail! It makes your area unique and is beautiful

The Virginia Creeper Trail is one of the most unique, and beautiful places. To line it with stores would take away from the peacefulness that is all around the trail. Plus, there is no need for more shops--there's more than enough for such a small town anyway.

I have concern not only for the Creeper Trail and adjoining property owners, but for the abandonment of yet another shopping center in the town of Abingdon. ( Roses, Magic Mart, etc.) We are beginning to look like "any town USA" rather than the unique and desirable town that appeals to historians and visitors, as well as town folk. I know the town values the Creeper Trail and will do its best to protect it, however, we would be far better off utilizing space that is already trashed and abandoned to build shopping and hotels. If you must rezone, make it recreational and build your sports fields, but we don't need yet another exit 7 wannabe in Abingdon.

This trail needs to stay where it is at. There is to much history to just to try and move it.

Please don't destroy the beauty of our peaceful and pristine town.

My sister-in-law was proposed to on the Creeper Trail October 13, 2015. She and her fiance came down from MI for a family visit and purposely chose the Creeper Trail for the event that will change their lives forever and this was something we had been looking forward to for a long time. The fact that they chose the Creeper Trail as a destination from MI should tell you something about how important this beautiful established landmark is. If there had been a parking lot or a hotel visual during their important moment I doubt it would have attributed to the moment. The Creeper Trail needs to stay in its natural setting without visually polluting parking lots and hotels. PLUS the way this was handled by Abingdon's town council is nothing short of an ambush. The council members should be ashamed of themselves for treating their towns people like this. Janet Gunther
