I think a better location could be found. I do not want to see new areas developed when existing areas are already going unused. If the rumors are true Food City moves there then their existing store will go vacant and become an eye sore.

Please don't change this beautiful recreational area into yet another chain of retail stores! Abingdon has an incredible natural resource here that few other towns have -support and protect it!

Abingdon has changed so much since I went to E.B. Stanley and Abingdon High - for the better! - and those changes have had nothing to do with more retail shopping space, chain restaurants, or sports. This isn't the way to build Abingdon's economy; what's great about it are the unique, locally-owned businesses like Zazzy'z and Wolf Hills and the bustling farmer's market. Abingdon has more than enough shopping centers already! The kinds of businesses proposed for this project bring mostly crummy, low-wage retail jobs and send their profits out of the community. Don't spoil the view of the Creeper Trail for a lousy couple of bucks. Abingdon deserves better.

Keep Abingdon historic. Whats wrong with the magic mart property behind Hardees already "developed". Time for recalls for the entire bunch that supports it.

A smart town wins when it keeps shopping sectors consolidated along traffic routes and keeps natural/culturally traditional areas beautiful. Abingdon would be wise not to spoil the Creeper Trail and a historically important dwelling with chaotic retail growth.

this area should be left natural. food city don't need a new building. leave the town the way it is, don't ruin a beautiful place.

I frequent this trail with my family. It has natural beauty. The development would take that away.

As a recent visitor to Abingdon, we spent a lot of time on the Creeper Trail. Please don't spoil such a treasure.

Thank you for the opportunity to express my views. The Creeper Trail region is where some of my best "growing up" memories were made.

We do not need another empty shopping center.

I visited Abingdon and the surrounding area with my family several years ago for a competitive high school running camp. The Virginia Creeper Trail, in several locations (including the area in question), was a key training ground for the program. My family and I fell in love with the area, and elected to stay and hang around a few days after the camp had ended. Our fascination was largely due to the beautiful Virginia Creeper trail in its natural glory as the centerpiece of the region. Not every town has a resource like this; as a former (and hopefully future) "tourist," I strongly suggest you preserve the natural beauty of the trail.
