I hope they will not destroy the historical lands and The Meadows will one day be a museum open for the public. This will bring money to Abingdon, VA.

One of the last natural preserves of the area needs to be left as is.

Shame on Abingdon Town Council! It is bad enough that Wal-Mart is coming.

Please do not build this center on top of the beautiful Virginia Creeper Trail. Don't destroy the beauty of this city!

I would like to keep the areas surrounding the Creeper commercial-free. Please do not allow Food City or any other retailer to encroach on this land. There are multiple areas that are developed but not currently used that can be redeveloped for the needs of this. Thank You

Please, please preserve this trail. It is a wholesome, wonderful family activity for people from all over. It also adds to the unique little town if Damascus. It would be a terrible mistake to do away with it.

Moving Abingdon Forward? I read in in The Bristol Herald Courier some justifications for the development proposal re Food City, et al. My reaction?
A. I don't care how much money this development cabal is spending for their own
aggrandizement.
B. Construction work will cost the Town 5 million but tax money raised would "potentially
take care of these costs". WHAT? Who came up with that idea?
C. Development tax money "could" fund a sports complex. WHAT? Hoping for the best,
aren't you? Who pays if you're wrong? Think I know....
D. 57 million per year in sales revenue. Really? If your prognostication is true, such an
amount would simply be a transfer of revenue from other local business activity.
(unless you're planning on printing some new money to be spent.
E. I keep seeing "Town Tax Revenue" in every statement.
I keep seeing "Town Tax Revenue" in every statement.

F. "Plant more trees, build more sidewalks, nice walkable community"? Most foot traffic I
see are fat women jogging off yesterday's gorging and dog walkers letting their
animals take a crap on someone else's property.
G. All this is NOT a "positive direction". I'm not buying it.

We can't let this happen! The creeper trail is too important for the area, recreationally and historically.
