I DO NOT nor DO I APPROVE New Fairfield to put anything that resembles a herbicide or algaecide into the waters of Candlewood Lake.

This will hurt the environment. I stand against introducing chemicals into the lake. This is a shared resource and New Fairfield should not have the right to go against people who do not want to swim or fish in this lake.

It is time that New Fairfield work with the other towns and the CLA. and not poison the water and kill the fish

As someone who frequents the lake in the summer and wants to protect the safety of our waters for people and wildlife, please reconsider using harmful chemicals as an easy solution. Consult with other towns and residents and come up with a better long term solution. Thank You

Introducing herbicides in any lake is a very bad idea; worse than the already terrible decision taken to introduce Grass Carp to Candlewood. While the milfoil may be an inconvenience for some it does prove to be beneficial to the gamefish that live in the lake (but that is an argument for a different day). I say NO to aquacides and put more pressure on the Power Authority to control the grass via the drawdowns. Zebra Mussels will be next!

The use of herbcides is a short term effect...they sould not be used in any lake...

Stop the hysteria over milfoil by the New Fairfield, CT selectman, especially selectwoman Susan Chapman. If the milfoil bothers the New Fairfield beach goers, then just pull the milfoil out of the beach area!! Introducing cancer causing chemicals into the lake!! No Way - Especially in the month of May when most of Candlewood's fish are up shallow spawning. Lets just kill all of those eggs and newly hatched juvenile fish . Candlewood is a national treasure and renowned national fishery which brings people from all over the country to fish its prolific waters. Don't mess with this success. It does have economic impact to the area - don't ruin that. I am on the lake 2-3 times a week for 8-12 hours each day. Let the grass carp program, that is already in place run its course and reduce the milfoil naturally. There are many "invasive" plants, bugs, animals, etc. present everywhere in Connecticut. Your not going to change this by spraying poison in the lake! Diquat Bromide forms strong bonds with clay and soil particles, which increases its tendency to have long-term persistency in the soil. The chemical is listed as toxic to animals and has caused cancer in rats in laboratory studies. It is documented that children a especially affected by these poisons. evidence shows that chemical treatments performed over a number of years become less effective at controlling invasive plants. Chemicals may be a quick fix but have not been proven as a long-term solution for invasive species like milfoil. The dumping of herbicides into our water bodies can cause nutrient and pH imbalances, kill off beneficial organisms, contaminate drinking water supplies, and harm people. New Fairfield residences -don't poison Candlewood Lake.

I initially thought that the proposal to introduce herbicides to Candlewood Lake was fake news. It's THAT ridiculous. Seriously?

NF really needs to cut all the shenanigans. They are a lake town. They are part of the five municipalities around the lake who are supposed to work and come together to find solutions to these issues and stop trying to do what they want and however they want. This has been going on for years.

There is a lot of good research on the extreme impacts of chemicals in the lake on the entire lake ecosystem. Rather than harming the ecosystem with pesticides alternatives must be discovered. Many other lakes across the country and Canada have eurasion milfoil. The blue green algae comes from the nitrogen and fertilizers. Rather than using pesticides as a carcinogenic bandaid to the problems - go to the root cause and work from there. There is a reason why no other towns are choosing this alternative......

I am begging our board of selectmen to work with the CLA and the scientists who examine the long term consequences of each treatment of our precious lake water.

Please, there are enough chemicals we live with we don't need to swim with them. We are all sick from the chemicals, please don't make it worse!
