I live on a lake that has had milfoil for years. We manually get out into the lake and hand harvest the areas that are a problem, a small percentage of the lake. Get out and do some work and not look for the easy risky way out.

The short sighted, dangerous and ignorant act of the New Fairfield town council and first selectmen Chapman to pollute Candlewood Lake is egregious, reckless and dangerous. They have given the great town of New Fairfield a black eye.

Chemicals and poor planning in the areas surrounding the lake are the reason Candlewood has algae and fungal issues. Its a symptom and not the problem. Fix what is the real problem.... chemical management and use in surrounding areas. Minimize human impact.

Terrible idea not only will this destroy the homes and lives of thousands of marine life and animals living here but the people that live and travel to come here to fish and support this CT hot spot will never agree with what seems to me as selfishness !!

Please don't add chemicals to the lake. Give the carp a chance. They will get rid of the milfoil as they did in Ball pond!

How many times does this have to happen. Kill the grass , kill the bass. Put the carp in, take the carp out. Take out the vegetation, regrow the vegetation. What the heck is going on. Look throughout the nation, good to great fisheries have been decimated. These types of programs never work, its like the herbicides dont kill bass, but no one is catching them. Well the carp were supposed to be sterile and not grow to 50 pounds. The commission is going to spend 2 million to regrow desired plants. Read about Lake Cataouatche, Santee Cooper, Lake Erie--these are just a few. Im all for a solution, but these are not solutions. They always lead to fewer bass and more problems. Im looking for more bass and fewer problems. Go back to the drawing board,(biologist) but while doing all that pencil wiggling, during the interim stop ruining our waterways.

Copper sulfate is toxic to amphibians and this group is already being deeply threatened by chytrid fungus, pesticides, and habitat loss.
