Don't poison Candlewood Lake

Don't let homeowners in Connecticut use "Roundup" either.

Me and my father have been fishing at this lake for about ten years and I believe that putting herbicides in the lake will cause more harm than good.

there is no way to protect air breathing wild animals, note, advise is not to drink or use the water after treatment, this is a cruel idea.

It blows my mind that anyone would want to poison the lake by dumping tons of chemicals into it. One town should not be allowed to dump poisons into a lake that will affect so many other towns and people. This must be stopped!

We spoke extensively about this at our PA TBF Club meeting and are unanimously against poisoning Candlewood Lake. This is a great fishery and this would have a huge impact on the bait fish and game fish.

From a New Fairfield Resident: 1. The process used by the New Fairfield Selectmen was very flawed. 2. Disrespect shown to CLA is beyond irresponsible. 3. Dumping chemicals into a recreational lake makes no sense from a liability perspective nor from a ecological perspective.

New Fairfield remember how this BOS has treated our community by bypassing our votes this November. Candlewood Lake is not "her" lake and NF is not "her" town. It's ours!

I live in Putnam Lake NY. We are well aware of the impact human activity has had on our lake & are taking action to preserve our lake environment. Please don't act hastily-- consider all options and, above all, don't choose the quickest, easiest, cheapest solution. Look at the long term consequences your decisions may make.

Please do not allow New Fairfield to act on their own!! All five towns, First Light, DEEP and CLA should be making all decisions together, in the best interest of Candlewood Lake!!

I am opposed to the use of algaecides and herbicides in Candlewood Lake and I do not think it is fair for the Town of New Fairfield, where my husband and I reside, to choose to do this without soliciting input from New Fairfield residents, the DEEP, the CLA and stakeholders from other towns surrounding the lake.

This can't be allowed to happen.

As a Connecticut licensed realtor, using Diquat would decrease the property values on Lake Candlewood. The Lake is used for lots of recreation such as fishing, swimming, boating, scuba diving, paddleboarding, etc. How do we know the long term effects of this chemical if our pets or we come in contact with water that has been chemically treated? There are other alternatives such as using more carp fish and harvesting. (A machine that cuts the milfoil out of the lake.) Don't let a few people ruin a beautiful lake

Diquat is dangerous. It is easy to find information about it on the web. The EPA says stay out of the water for at least 14 days after application. Don't use the water for irrigation or let your pets drink it. It will make the fish inedible. So, what is the up side? I am a boater on the lake and milfoil is a nuisance but does not stop the enjoyment of the lake. Yes it is a bit difficult getting out from and in to the dock but hardly worth poisoning the lake for.

We just moved to the Isle in August and we are very upset they are thinking of doing this Pesticides are bad anywhere they are please don't do this you are endangering everyone . There must be other solutions if this problem is as bad as Deep suggest . Rita Streit 38 Ridge Rd

I see this as a short sighted effort to appease the boating public. I would like to see the town take a farsighted view looking toward protecting the health of the lake for future generations.
