Don't poison Candlewood Lake

This seams like an undemocratic leap into drastic actions without considering the all viable alternatives.

What do John Hodge, Sue chapman and assorted Selectman gain from using the herbicide.

Stop this horrible program.

I guess none of you people live on or use Candlewood Lake or you would realize that the milfoil problem is ruining the Lake. I have lived on the lake for almost 30 years and the milfoil is getting worse and worse. The carp and beetle solutions have done nothing. The draw down helps if it is a full draw down and a cold winter but both are rarely the case. Manual removal is not a valid option. The milfoil is a danger to swimmers and boaters and has closed beaches and will eventually take over the complete shoreline and disrupt all use of the Lake. The effect on the Lake and fish and wildlife has been researched and shows minimal negative impact. We pay insane taxes to be on the Lake and the towns, state and Feds have failed to address this problem head on. THE ONLY WAY TO KILL THE MILFOIL IS TO TREAT THE LAKE!!! Please let your town representatives know if you agree with the treatment. I know I will.

When will we ever learn that chemicals that kill living things are dangerous.

I do not want more pesticides/herbicides in the lake. More natural solutions must be sought.

I drove across the country with my dogs to move to Holiday Point in July 2016 and escape the pollutants in Los Angeles. I have severe allergies to a number of chemicals commonly used, and do not want Diquat dibromide leeching into my well - it is known as a moderately toxic compound that can cause death in humans when ingested and if it's my well... then I will be ingesting it. PLEASE please do not use chemicals in Candlewood, rendering me completely incapable of going near the lake I just uprooted my entire life to enjoy! I am a resident of Candlewood Lake and I strongly oppose the use of any chemicals in the lake, let's give the grass carp a chance!!!

Please don't poison Candlewood Lake

Thanks again for the hard work of going ahead with probably overturning the town chemical idea to poison the lake.

I am against the Town of New Fairfield's "go it alone attitude" about being the only town out of 5 who feel dumping chemicals into our lake is the best solution for any of the communities. Give the carp a chance to do their their work!

I am a resident of Candlewood Isle in New Fairfield. I cannot support the unilateral decision of the town of New Fairfield to introduce chemicals into the lake . New Fairfield and bordering towns agreed to the carp program; more time is needed to evaluate its effectiveness. Such an evaluation cannot be made if another intervention (i.e. chemicals) is introduced this year.

No chemicals in Lake Candlewood without extensive study and evaluation by the DEEP and the Army Corp of Engineers.

Please do NOT use poison to kill off all the grass and weeds. Do not kill off the grass and weeds period.

Poor planning and care for our lake's lifetime doesn't warrant adding more chemicals. Sadly, the pristine waters are long gone. We were either ill or poorly prepared for the real needs of our lake systems and they are suffering the consequences. Candlewood lake was a man made jewel that has been abused by the masses and has withered and is dying in plain view for many years. This is another bandaid, too harmful, too late. So sad.

To use such a destructive method to control weeds because it's quick and cheap is a crime. It will clearly destroy a great fishery and have a long term negative effect on all connected waterways in the area.
