Keeping the ecosystem healthy and balanced far outweighs the inconvenience of grass around the docks. Besides, this lake provides a healthy economy for the entire area bringing in boaters and fisherman alike.

Don't interfere with the ecosystem of the lake unless it's to help the organisms within the lake survive. If it's strictly for human benefit, the pesticides are for the absolute wrong reason. We already damage our environment more than we should, why do the same to the lake if it doesn't have to be done?

I have been involved with the use of grass carp to control aquatic vegetation since around 1986 and a member of the Ball Pond Advisory Committee's grass carp program since 1997 and continue as a member today.
I have been a volunteer with the DEEP's Inland Fisheries unit for about 25 years and volunteer with the CLA and WestConn each year out on Candlewood Lake doing fisheries research.
Using chemicals is a disgrace after all that is now being done to manage Candlewood Lake. You can not effectively manage weeds using multiple solutions at the same time not knowing the impact each has on one another. The State and the five Towns chose grass carp and draw-downs as their long range solution. For the Town of New Fairfield's Selectmen's Office to unilaterally decide among themselves that chemicals are now the choice solution for their section of the lake is so beyond rational thinking that it smacks of some kind of nefarious agenda.
The DEEP needs to reject this application and if it can't figure out how to do it then the issue needs to go to the State's Attorney General and our Governor.

Unwise decision to use chemicals expierence has demonstrated this will destroy the lakes ecosystem. Look at the facts. a few Question to ask, why remove the weeds using chemicals when other methods are available? Are the weeds truly interfering with other water recreational activities?

New Fairfield doesn't own the lake.The lake was created with federal tax dollars from US citizens. Drawdowns have worked in the past,stop fertilizing your lawns and see the difference

I have fished Candlewood Lake for 30 plus years.
It would be a sin to destroy the fishery that has taken so many years to build.
