What has made Sag Harbor special is fast disappearing. It's just a matter of time that this beautiful historic village will look like any other upscale suburban community. Lets practice some restraint.

The SANS community is an important historical community of national importance. It represents a unique aspect of Sag Harbor history. It demonstrates what other communities have only given lip service to, equal access to housing.

We cannot have an influx of people who stay a week or two and then have oversized lots just sit, or rent them out as "party" houses.

It is imperative that recently enacted zoning codes be followed as rigorously as possible. Not only that but when necessary the applicable village boards must act in a manner that bears in mind what is in the best interests of the village and what we want it to look like--whether actually codified or not.

Please allow us to maintain the scope and character of the neighborhoods the way they have been since their founding. Do not allow the building of McMansions

I've had the privilege and pleasure of visiting family in Sag Harbor Hills since the 1950's and it would be offensive to see it's unique character shoved aside for these disproportionately large homes that are proposed.

I am a homeowner, tax payer and voting resident of Sag Harbor Village. I have lived in Sag Harbor Hills for 25+ years. By signing this petition I am asking the Village Authorities to act in our behalf and I am holding the Mayor, Village Trustees, the Chairman and members of the ARB responsible for allowing outside forces to undermine the historical, cultural integrity and economic viability of our communities, if they do not support our preservation efforts.

In addition to non-compliance to current building codes, many of these new would-be builders also do not adhere to the "No Dogs Allowed" signage at the beach entrances. Our children play in that sand. Also, personal items, e.g. chairs, surf boards, kayaks, etc. were not left on the beach in the past. Now, even after being asked not to do so, their arrogant, in-your-face attitudes, when encountered, are changing the complexion of a legacy that was established more than 50 years ago by great grandparents, grandparents, and parents of most of the current residents. It is not a good situation and is not promising for the future survival of a community who historically raised young people, in a solid, progressive community to become productive adult citizens in these family-oriented neighborhoods and other communities around the country and, indeed, the world. Please STOP these non-compliant intrusions.

As home owners we are veer concerned about the recent and soon to be built homes that are destroying the character of this Sag Harbor community. Little or no code enforcement is a contributing problem that must be addressed. Thank you!
