Don’t Let Them Demolish Doris Duke (Cromwell’s) Harbor

I grew up not far from this iconic place and my grand parents lived on the slope of Diamond Head. I now live in Florida and can only dream of the beautiful memories that her stunning home and use of Hawaii's ocean provided to so many, myself included. It would be a tragedy to allow the destruction of that to happen. Of course no one wants anyone to get hurt jumping, but there is a reasonable solution without throwing the baby out with the bath water. Much Aloha

Childhood playground. No place like this in the world. Should be a Hawaii Landmark.

Shame on the state for siding with this multi billion dollar foundation to yet again rid the community of a historic site we all enjoyed since we were kids. When it’s in the rich people backyards that’s when it’s a problem. Invest in the safety of this place vice destruction. Also the fence makes it 1000x more dangerous… safety isn’t the concern here.

Do not destroy the harbor

The proposed deconstruction will at best make the area more hazardous. And we have been warned about global warming and its effects. There has not been any scientific body exams this construction as to its effect on the downslope beach erosion. This proposal is so wrong and supported by people with ulterior motives. There will probably be more problems as a result

That's one of the few places you can swim on Blackpoint. Save it for the not so rich people.

Decisions being made by people living outside of Hawaii directly affecting local residents should stopped! Find another solution but don’t dismantle it! Have some respect for local sentiment!

This is a special place for locals, I do not want to see it demolished. Leave sacred places that locals love alone

Don’t knock it down all of our happiness as children is disappearing around the island good memories of summer here.

My great-grandmother's house is right up the road from there. My grandparents took me there as a child, and I take my children there now. It is a piece of Hawaii history. To tear it down would be absolutely devastating to not just the people, but to the sea life that make it home. There is always a better solution to the problem than just destroying it.

Keep it local. They don't want it demolished. Simple.

Save one of the islands great treasures. Doris Duke Foundation could easily pay for a lifeguard with their $2 Billion dollar endowment, greatly enhancing the surrounding community.

Let locals keep enjoying this incredible spot.

This is one of the most beautiful locations on the island, and to fill it would devastate not only the beauty of the area, but also the health of the water, reef, and sea creatures living around it. There is no benefit to closing this spot. There is the possibility of someone taking a bad fall at Waimea, getting hurt from a wave at sandy, and the beaches arent shut down for it. We need to preserve this beautiful area, not destroy it.
