Ridiculous grounds for refusal. All the Council seems to care about is Lerwick. Are we not allowed to enjoy good food in rural areas? What is the difference between driving to town for a Chinese, for example, and town folk driving North for Italian cuisine? The proposed Pizzeria is an area regularly used by commuters, so plenty of folk will not have to increase their carbon footprint by making a special journey. If the grounds for refusal are to be council policy, will we see an end to any new restaurants outwith a bus route? We all have to travel by car here in Shetland as public transport is so poor. New employment opportunities and new businesses should be encouraged, especially in rural areas.

the idea of going OUT to eat is that you go away from where you normally frequent to somewhere else entirely...this entails driving, busing, taxi-ing but rarely walking or cycling, most people going OUT are unsuitably dressed for walking/cycling.the fact that this pizzeria will be closed to many people North of Lerwick will minimise the CO2 emissions that they would normally expend going to eat out in Lerwick.
This planned pizzeria is not in an established settlement, this is a positive thing, the same could have been said for the Breiwick cafe in Eshaness, who similarily had 3 dwellings reasonably close to it at time of their planning application. The contribution to the local economy has been massive and served a need for the many people who already travelled to Eshaness for sunday teas or just trips out for the scenery...The same will be true at Voe, only difference is folks will be able to stop off for a pizza and stay a while longer outside of Lerwick.
Local employment and a great contribution to the Shetland economy are also benefits from opning the Pizzeria.
Planners you have got it very wrong, This application should be encouraged for all its positive points, not turned down for some truly dubious reasons. Think again on this.

Shetland desperately needs this. Currently too limited a choice of good eateries.

A very wrong decision by the planning department. Hope the council sees sense to over-rule those Jobs-worth officials.

How wonderful it would be to have an authentic Italian restaurant closer to the Yell ferry so we don't have to travel into Lerwick for choices to eat.

When going out for food I need to drive every time as I have arthritis. Most people drive so why is that given as an objection? Ridiculous!

When visiting this area it would be good to get the choice of food that I want not a choice laid out by councillors...
