I am not from here but I’ve been living in hawaii for 15yrs and I am married with a local and have 2 kids
I thinks is totally outrageous that the government don’t care or want to preserve the Hawaiian culture, one of the reasons why people enjoy coming to hawaii is to learn and feel about the culture and the aloha that people still have in hawaii
If people visit hawaii and all they meet is companies owned and operated by Japanese, Chinese of mainland people then the whole experience will be different and not unique anymore
Also I feel is the responsibility of the government to take care and be sure the culture of the place is preserved and pass on to the next generations
Thus is not the mainland and we should never try to be, there is an uniqueness to the Hawaiian culture and that’s what needs to be emphasized and embraced not let it die

The Beach Boys is a tradition and the way of life in Waikiki! To take it away and bring in a mainland company is only showing that state and government people don’t care about hawaii people! It’s all greed! Wake up and do what’s right!

I grew up surfing Waikiki -
The Beach Boys always encouraged & inspired all the Groms to keep surfing, to cherish it, and to have as much aloha as possible. As a young girl - my mom trusted them to such extent - she would just drop me off in Waikiki, right after a long drive from Kailua, right under the big banyan tree, she knew I was safe there because of The Beach Boys & there genuine love for all the local surfers.
They genuinely wanted all us kids to have a pure passion with the ocean, which is one of the most beautiful gifts you could ever give someone, it’s not something you can learn or buy either, it comes from the heart.
No matter what, no board, no leash, no wax they would always provide in pursuit of making you feel the passion. I remember countless times the boys would let me borrow boards when I hadn’t any - or anything for that matter.. water to sunscreen. They took care of all of us withought asking for anything in return, that is pure aloha. So selfless - I pray that they will continue this form of aloha for generations to come.
I pray my kids will get to expirence that kind of aloha poured onto them when surfing Waiks with the Waikiki Beach Boys -

Can’t let the beach boy culture die!it was around when my dad worked in waiks as a bartender,and i worked there under the table as job for a bit and loved it.it really needs to stay.i want my Keiki to see and experience it when they grow up just as I did and just as my father did and everyone else!cant let the beach boy culture fade!

The Beachboys have been there, since Duke’s days in Hawaii. Remove them and I, guarantee you, Waikiki will fold up and crumble away, even the tourists will dislike Waikiki,,,Leave them alone...
