So sad to hear this. Allowing someone who has no previous waterman experience or any type of insight to the culture of not just the Kānaka Hawaiʻi, but the culture of Heʻe nalu, and all that it represents just goes to show where the mentality and heart of our "trusted" council men and women are - their very own pockets. Sad to see that money, and profits to be made off of tourists is all they think about. Not the people, the culture or the stories entwined to Start Beachboys, Hawaiian Oceans and Waikiki, and not to mention Uncle Eddie Aikau himself. Ke aloha nui, iā ʻoukou e nā ʻanakala, nā kiaʻi ola, nā kiaʻi o ia wahi ʻāina keu a ka uʻi.

Just because somebody CAN do something doesn’t make it right. This guy is doing what many have done before him, which is ignore and push aside history and culture in the name of money. People come to Hawaii not only to see the island, but to experience the culture and history! The Beach Boys, like most watermen and good surf instructors, are generational! Don’t ruin something so cool! The Duke is rolling in his grave !

Surfing started with Hawaiians. The Beach Boys are sharing knowledge passed down from one generation to the next. They are sharing a culture & Aloha, not just teaching someone to surf & making money.
