This action by the city and county is an insult and will not be forgotten. We've done research on the DiveOahu owner and what we've found is a complete lack of respect for the aina. We will do everything I our power to boycott this vendor (DiveOahu) and any associates. I guarantee that they will lose $$$. They neither will get or deserve respect. Also, the city and county should be ashamed and held accountable for this stunning lack of competence.

I hope that all come together from near and far to help bring a stop to selfish, money hungry, careless people who just want to take over .

As a surfer and dive instructor, this issue bothers me deeply. I have so much respect for culture and history. To lose the Waikiki Beach Boys would be a disgrace to Hawaii's heritage and an insult to the spirit of aloha.
I hope the city thinks as deeply about this issue and comes to a conclusion that makes sense not cents...

This is horrific to see the extremity of commodification of the native culture. To allow what MAKES Waikiki still genuine is being taken away for uniformed, contracted mostly non-local surf company to take over Waikiki with a contract is disrespectful & dishonest and disingenuine to the local community as well as the visitor industry.

Who better to keep Hawaiian shores safe for visitors, than the Hawaiians and locals who know these waters intimately?!? Many of The Beach Boys have lived their entire lives at Kuhio beach and are now raising the next generation of up-and-riding keiki there. These people know this land and should be the ones tasked to steward it! Keep allowing local people the chance to get a piece of the tourism pie. Native Hawaiians are already too overrepresented in the court systems. Allow people a way to feed their families and provide a service and safety to visitors that is literally in their blood and that they are absolutely the most capable ones to do the job. The birthplace of surfing should 100% continue to be run by Hawaiians. I stand with the beach-boys.

Dive Oahu’s frontman has proved himself to be a greedy money-grabber with no regard for the rich history of Waikiki or the Hawaiian way of life at all. He cannot be permitted to needlessly destroy living culture for the sake of naked profits.

All people in Hawaii should hold onto the Hawaiian culture and respect it. It is what makes your islands beautiful. If you take away The Beach Boys, Waikiki surfing will loose its spirit and also its point of difference from other (cheaper) island vacation locations.
