I worked in Waikiki for many years and enjoyed the beach boy culture we have there. It is irresponsible if the state of Hawaii to allow an outsider to take over what the beach boy culture had established for years!!! It’s about a lifestyle, culture and knowing our aina! We need to start looking after the local people of Hawai’i who was born here or raised here and knows the dynamics of this aina!! Why would you, state of Hawai’i, allow a “foreigner” who is unfamiliar of surf culture and unfamiliar of this aina push our boys out!!! This is ridiculous! Look at this island...it has turned into a mess with too many outside investors. The Aloha spirit and culture will be lost. Please don’t allow this to happen. Keep the beach boy culture!! I support our local boys who has been apart of Waikiki for so many years.

Putting people into poverty should be illegal. This is so shameful and sickening. I cannot believe the disrespect and ignorance that still exists in some peoples minds and hearts.

Save OUR Beach Boys from the outside/foreigners from taking over OUR beaches for the buck. This is their wealth and life of living for ages and these outsiders/foreigners want to move in and TAKE the Hawaiian culture for their own greed. #HEWA LOA, #A’OLE #ALOHAAINA #UNTILTHELASTAINA #KUKIA’I #MOVEYOURBUSINESSSOMEWHEREELSE

I grew up on Oahu and my dad is an Ala Moana Courts surfer. Every summer we'd spend some time in Waikiki and my dad would introduce me to all my beach boy uncles. THEY ARE WAIKIKI. They are the soul of that beach. Having an unknown company move in and try to undercut their pay and lifestyle is completely disrepectful and not pono. We will lose this lifestyle and history of Hawaii if we let this happen.

Waikiki is steeped in tradition, although it’s a busy tourist destination, the old things like the Waikiki beach boys, the “pink hotel” and the hula dancers in the restaurants give it its charm- and they allow locals to practice arts and history in a way that supports them and provides the spirit of aloha to visitors. When I think of Waikiki I think of duke, of easy waves to surf, and of aloha in a modern interpretation of the word/spirit. I believe The Beach Boys now are doing a GREAT job- let them continue. Let the new company do what it does best- operate dive tours. I ask you listen to your constituents ands reconsider the award of this new company- let history shine. Duke would be rolling over in his grave!

I really enjoy the beach boys when I bring my family they're very helpful and they're working just like all of us to feed their family.
