Don't let the beach boy culture die

watch what will happen when you make money everything. what you will lose is the heart. what you will lose is the passion of purpose. people don’t pay you to give you money. they pay you because you have the ability to change someone’s life by teaching and caring. Dive Oahu can not provide that.

No Beachboys, No Aloha

Dive Oahu saw a drowning man almost dying on the beach and decided to do absolutely nothing just because he isn’t a customer NO ALOHA

Change isn't always the best answer. Why change something that Does not need to be. The locals love the beach boys People actually come here with intentions to see the boys. I feel Change here will encounter future problems.

The Beach Boys is the heart of Waikiki. Taking The Beach Boys out of waikiki is like taking the heart of Waikiki.

Beach boys are Hawaiian history. They must be treated as such!

For french tourists waikiki will not be waikiki without its beach boys !

No! No! No! The Beach Boys ARE Hawaii. How in hell did this even get debated, let alone given to a bloody dive company. Get ready for the floods, for Duke Kahanamoko will be crying so many tears of sadness from heaven.

So disappointing.. I can remember our 1st trip to Oahu and our then 11 year old son who was mad on surfing wandering up to a lovely lady at Beach Boys to ask about hiring a board for the day. She not only took the time to get to know our son but virtually gave him 1/2 price hire for the entire 10 days we were there, always greeting him each day with a smile and warm welcome and the boys were on hand to give him lots of advice and help on how to be a better surfer. When I think of if, it really was our 1st exposure to the 'Aloha Spirit' and the beautiful nature of the native Hawaiian people and helped us as a family, to fall in love with Hawaii. A truly sad day and an institution that will be greatly missed by not only our family but the local community as well. I t just won't be the same without them being there on our next visit..

Don't be foolish Dive Oahu, keep things simple...just the way it is. Stop following the "MONEY TRAIL", Do what is right for us all. Leave our beaches alone and stop trying to make it harder for us to access all beaches. Waikiki has a history, if you can't leave it as it is, maybe you have NO BUSINESS there.

Please keep what is one of the few things left, of old Waikiki. Keep the beach boys!

I was raised on Oahu. Grew up with these guys and traditional Waikiki. Shame on you greedy idiots ruining what little Hawaii is left. Money pursuit will kill Hawaii.

Waikiki Beach is just not the same without the trusted safety of the Star Beach Boys with decades of proven safety and Hawaiian culture that’s expected by everyone that’s ever visited Waikiki. I also don’t agree with Dive Oahu’s current signage stating, “DIVE OAHU, the People’s Choice!” The people had no say so in unfair pick of Dive Oahu, who has had a whole host of problems with current and past contracts. The city & county of Honolulu has been able to maintain a flawless safety record with the Star Beach Boys and now we see no more lines for surf lessons and beach rentals because tourists will only trust surf instructors by the Star Beach Boys, not young and inexperience looking beach valets who expect Ocean Safety to do all the work for them instead of providing the top notch training and supervision that the Star Beach Boys could only provide. Safety should always come before severely underbidded contracts by a company that doesn’t have the experience and training to represent Hawaii and the Hawaiian culture that our visitors over the years have come to expect.
