Please reconsider the vendor selection. Do not strip away the legacy and history of The Waikiki Beach Boys. Stop this nonsense before we lose all meaning of culture and the Aloha Spirirt.

This type.of government has to stop. Arbitrarily allowing a vendor that has no real clue as to what the tradition of the Waikiki Beach Boys represents is a slap in the face to the people of Hawaii. When are you going to learn that Hawaii is unique?

We understand the frustration that has been caused by the Kuhio Beach Contract. We’d like to start out by saying, we are not pushing out local beach boys.
The City and County of Honolulu owns the contract for Kuhio Beach. They put it up for bid every five years. We are a water sports company that bid for the contract for this term and won it, just as the current companies have before us. We are mandated to run it according to the City and County contract. The City and County of Honolulu has changed the contract requirements from the previous year. This is a change in management, we are not pushing out the beach boys. Any other vendor that would have won, instead of Dive Oahu, would have to implement the same changes, to include a uniform and electronic transaction receipts.
We welcome all local beach boys that can provide the following, according to the City and County Contract:
- Current Blue Card
- Current Red Cross Lifeguard Certification
- Pre-employment drug test
- TB Clearance
As for pay, all staff will be paid as employees instead of contractors. Surf instructors will be making $30-55 per hour when teaching. So, to say we will be paying minimum wage is not correct. We also include health care benefits that were previously unavailable.
We are a very transparent company that has proven our commitment to the community for the last 25 years. We have extensive experience on the water and put safety above all. We are open to answer any and all questions you may have.
Thank you!

Allow tradition to stand. I surf with those guys & they bring spirit to the tourists through their love of surfing.
