In a world of constant change and development, surfing gives people an opportunity to relax and focus on the present. Being in touch with nature, feeling the refreshing water on your skin and the thrill of riding a wave is more than a hobby or a sport, it’s a lifestyle. Furthermore, the people and history of a surf spot add a culture element to surfing that is unlike many other sports, arts or hobby’s... the feelings, nature, history and culture combined create an aura that is synonymous with surfing in Hawaii. The Waikiki Beach Boys are part of that culture!.

Enough is enough ! People that come from away don’t want to have white haole style beachboys in fact they are not even considered a beach boy - beachboys are groomed over generations and generations - it is a privilege to be called one because you have mastered the ways of the sea ! Beachboys have a spirit that guides each of them- our city leaders are nothing but greedy - they have no good intentions and again the Hawaiians and our culture are getting screwed - just like what they did to our Queen! ! ‘Onipa’a Star Beach Boys - stand tall and be proud of your trade ! Love u all very much - Aunty BJ

The Waikiki beach boys need to stay the way they are, The Duke would be so sad !!! Long live the Aloha spirit and all the Hawaiian and Polynesian culture. All my support from Tahiti. ALOHA !

This is absolutely appalling what they are trying to do to this amazing organization! I feel very strongly about this movement. I pray this doesn’t happen.

The state cannot allow this new change to Waikiki Beach. The impact of this change will be devastating. Please just Let the Hawaiians live and work and respect them and their culture. They should not have to follow these ridiculous changes! The beach will never be the same. Please keep the Hawaiian culture Alive!
