40 year resident .... this makes me sick ! So shame that government couldn’t have prevented this from getting to this situation we are in right now! Never should have been in a “bidding” war in 1st place . This is Hawaii (esp. Waikiki) history!!! #makeallushaoleslookbad #shame

Surfing is a traditional Hawaiian pastime. It’s. It about the rules and organization, but the spirit. These uncles have the spirit or our Kūpuna and no one has the right to take that away.

Ever since I was little, we all rented boards to go surf in Waikiki. This can’t be taken from future generations.

This is absurd. Awarding a bid to someone with absolutely no experience is ludicrous. How will they be able to keep the person purchasing a lesson safe along with all of the other beach goers around them safe when they have no idea how to properly and safely handle a surfboard. This contract was awarded to someone who only owns 1 surfboard and only recently, within the last 18 months, has even tried surfing. This from his own proclamation. This is a bad decision on the part of the city of Honolulu. You will find yourself being held accountable when people begin getting injured while under the paid expertise of Brian Benton & Dive Oahu. I strongly oppose the decision. To award this contract to this person and this company.
