As a long time user of Airbnb who has been tracking the City Council discussions, it's obvious the majority of the council do not understand how Airbnb works, and that they are being heavily influenced by the Hotel Industry who wants to shut it down, and who is playing a PR game of horror stories. All of the Superhosts who host people in their homes, key words "their homes", create a totally different experience for guests and drive revenue to their local neighborhoods' restaurants, shops, cafes, and bars. Most of these businesses are small to mid size businesses, not Michigan Ave. Fortune 100 companies. So you have 95% of the revenue for rentals going to home owners to spend in the local economy, and a majority of the spending (don't have # but sure airbnb does) in local neighborhoods with small business owners. This is the kind of trickle down economics we need in Chicago! We need to stop the backroom games, the political payoffs and the rush to pass a bill that will NOT bring more revenue to Chicago. It will actually end a new revenue stream because most hosts will simply not be able to comply with the RIDICULOUS suggestions in the last legislation that was approved in committee. The last bill was not printed for the Council members-- they were told to just read the one page summary and vote. We need to slow down, be strategic and objective and stop listening to only those with the biggest pocket books and media budget to knock out a disrupter. Airbnb like Facebook and Uber and all of the other disrupters do need regulation, but not for the sake of keeping the status quo in business, but rather, to keep everyone safe.

Don't curtail airbnb in Chicago. Many hosts need the extra income to maintain their quality of living..

People are trying their hardest just to get by. PLEASE don't hamper the efforts. Let people determine their future. SAME with Uber. Government does NOT have all the answers. If government an't come up with solutions let us determine ours!

How can you stop alternate way of people saving their homes from the investors groups who are buying the homes who intrigued to the 2008 real estate bust!

Airbnb is here to stay in Chicago, it is smarter to regulate it than to continue to fight it. The shortage of hotels is no solution.
