This is obviously the councils new pet idea. As they are running out of green spaces, they're now trying to section off and separate different sections of the community without proper consultation. It's exactly the same at Broadwater Manor Ground and we are fighting the same battle - coincidence or what!!

This is beyond ridiculous!!! I went to St Marys school and we had no 'field' and furthermore we had no trouble 'sharing'!!! Viccie Park with the local public when required for sports day/pe lessons.

My daughter went to Heene school many years ago and it was not necessary then to fence off the park. let everyone enjoy this green spce as it always was.

The park should remain as it was intended - an "open" space available to all. the school has already bought another building which they originally intended to use for pupils to be outside but have changed their mind and in doing so now have not enough outside space - very narrow minded of them. they cannot be allowed to manopolise this green space which is currently enjoyed by the whole local community.

I use this park nearly everyday and would be completely gutted if it was to be ruined by fenced football pitches, sorry kids!

As a local resident this is totally unacceptable to me and my family. The school site was never large enough for redevelopment.

Both schools have been using Victoria Park for sports days and summer fairs for years without the need of an ugly fence being erected ... Who will be responsible for the upkeep of the fencing and not to mention what happens after the area has been used so much it becomes a mud bath ? Then they can't use it at all ?? Will they use it in the winter months??? Not if it's been raining !
Not very well thought out... Each school has to do a poo patrol before using an area of the park for their sports days and fairs... If the proposed fenced off area is to be unlocked , then be prepared to carry on that poo patrol followed by litter picking and generally making sure the area is safe..

As schools love to point out, only 167(?) day is school day in a year from that at least half is rainy days or in winter term the little ones are not outside. (Only plimsolls need to be supplied). So the public is punished for what?

I attended the local school back in the day. We used the park as it was then. It was fit for purpose back then, it is fit for purpose now. As a local resident and tax payer, having an amenity that I use on a daily basis removed is unfair and unnecessary.

What annoys me about all this is that the council are the ones who have accepted the drunks from others areas and have now moved them into clifton court right next to the school. Which I presume is classed as stranger danger. Its also the council who stopped park wardens because it was too expensive. If wardens patrolled they could fine the people who dont clean up after their dogs. The council also agreed to the extension of Heene School knowing it would make problems for the residents in the surrounding area. Its a nightmare trying to get in or out of the street you live in for the parents on a school run. They feel they have a right to do what they like and park how and where the like, sod everyone else.
